I think I made a post much earlier in this thread about how Phillip DeFranco's general demeanor really bugs me, because it always comes off like he's acting overly concerned about everything he says and like he's making a conscious effort to project a "genuine" demeanor or something. It brings to mind the image of a guy walking up to some girl who looks sad and acting faux-compassionate in an attempt to hit on her (I know this is kind of bizarrely specific, but I can't think of any other way to explain it). Just rubs me the wrong way for some reason.

I think it was (unfortunately) Maher who nailed it by pointing out that Tucker Carlson consistently has the expression of a man who's just poo poo himself. Seriously click anywhere along that video and try and find a still image of him that doesn't give the impression of someone desperately clenching to stem the flow.

Everything was incredibly easy to make up back then. Herodotus spent more time making his stories entertaining than accurate. Also slandering a leader was a good way to eat poo poo so everyone just libeled when it came time to officially remember. Nero probably got the worst of it because he was a legit piece of poo poo so the embellishments are all over and hard to distinguish. It wasn't limited to Romans either
