At first I was like "ugh this is a terrible spot for a flashback, I think we got the gist of Kirishima a while ago" but then Mina showed up and defeated bullies with the power of spontaneous breakdancing. A+ chapter, Horikoshi is a genius.

You're likely right, the juxtaposition makes it more ambiguous than it has any right to be. I suppose cloak guy didn't necessarily go and commit any crimes after the Mina incident.

If you diss Mineta you diss Horikoshi.  Bits from the interview: Umakoshi and Horikoshi are both fans of Mike Mignola and try to emulate his style. MHA's tendency towards less slim bodytypes is because it happens to be what Horikoshi's prefers He thinks the american system of having a writer and an illustrator would be good to deal with the workload. Horikoshi spends about 3 to 4 days drawing. The other days are for stuff like hashing out the plot and such. re: today's chapter: Wasn't it only a year between All Might selecting Deku and entering UA? Did Kirishima go from "harden his skin a bit" to "can facetank boulders" in just a year?

Considering his current refreshing Unbreakable form is the result of a spur of the moment "I'll save you" scene I wouldn't be surprised if he originally went from firm skin to regular hardening in a similar manner. We still have flashback to go after all.

Inadequacy issues has been his entire arc thus far and this is just banging on the same drum.

I want Mina to bring spontaneous break-dancing to everyone's flashback. Just think how much better Icyhot's past would have been if Mina had got him, Endeavor, and his mom dancing together. Deku and Bakugou could have worked out their issues years ago if she had got a dance-off going after Deku pulled Baku out of the water.

I suspect what will happen is Mina will basically tell him "yea I'm scared as hell but a Hero does it anyway" and that simple realization will slap him in the face like a wet mackerel. Alternatively, just a simple "holy poo poo I'm already moving" moment much like Deku had would be pretty awesome. Either way I look forward to the next part of the flashback.

It looks like he already came to the revelation that Mina acted despite being totally terrified which makes her a much more heroic person than him and his heart is actually weak, not just his ability.
