It could be the starter, the starter solenoid or both, but I think you can replace both for under $200. Grab a used starter and either get an oem solenoid or wire in a Yamaha one from CA cycleworks. Never dealt with the loose flywheel thing though, just loose pickup coils, adjusting valves and changing belts.

That's a def on the pricey side imo. But still a nice bike.
Why is it in the Philly CL if the bike is in either DC or Roanoake?

If you decide that you're getting it, I could assist. I'm only a few minutes from Centreville, and (assuming you're in PA since you're perusing the Philly CL) could deliver it the rest of the way in my truck.

Where is it legal to have a CM400 with no turn signals?

In California, for instance, your vehicle has to be equipped with whatever signals and mirrors it came with from the factory. It's okay to ride a really old vintage bike just do the hand signals (lol if you think more than 0.01% of drivers have any idea what they mean), but if the bike came with turn signals it's gotta have them.

I think outside of CA, it's pretty common for turn signals to not be required. Usually running lights, brake lights, horn, and one mirror are all it takes. My DR350 has no signals (also no horn don't tell the DMV) and it's registered.

I think they cut and pasted some engrish from a PR release and were too stupid to edit it. This is the bike they're trying to emulate, and while it's not a wild custom it's a lot more than slapping on some 50/50 tires, a skid plate, and swapping the headlight from an FZ-07 over.

I was thinking a gatling gun, and the suicide shifter could be the crank to rotate the barrels (not like it should be placed in a sensible location anyways, and it's not currently that suicidal).

As soon as I started seriously looking into getting another bike I found this:

Too bad it's probably more bike than I could handle for a while, but it sure is tempting.

Really? I'm not that experienced a rider, about a year and a half over about 2-3000 miles and I'm coming back from a break of about half a year. This would have about twice the rpms and power of my last bike.

Maybe I should this to the "Tell Me What Bike To Buy" thread.

Edit: ok, maybe for my next bike after I've been riding a bit more.

You should definitely get more experience first, but yeah, it is a really chill bike. It is easy to muscle around at low speeds, loves to eat up freeway miles, and falls pretty gracefully into corners. I was riding Lady Chiche's 250 for two weeks and when I finally got back on the zrx I felt like I'd finally come home after 2 weeks in cheap motels. I am honestly considering getting a second as a backup bike.
