Just like conservatives will view a politician favorably if they act like they're rural and sport a southern or Texan accent, liberals will view politicians favorably if they speak with a "neutral" accent and generally look and sound highly educated. that's crazy. i remember just a few years ago doing my masters where the talk was that on-screen relationships between a man of color and a white woman were progressive because it was the opposite of the more exploitative white man and 'exotic' woman and it went against the racist notion that white women had to be 'protected' from men of other ethnicities. but now apparently it's bad? i don't understand pop culture leftist thought.

I think some of the northeastern schools and ivy league universities still have not gotten past their puritan roots in some ways. A lot of this narrative cuts across completely different from mainstream american thoughts on the subject.

I like how she started from a point of "It would be neat to have more South Asian female leads" and somehow ended up writing a thousand words about "As a very well educated liberal, I have opinions about which races should be allowed to gently caress in movies". I'm not an unemployed humanities major though, so I don't really understand how this leftist critical theory stuff is supposed to work.
