There are two groups of people out there. Authoritarians and Libertarians. . Note, I am not using Libertarian in the whole "Ayn Rand is God"  way. I'm using it in the manner of someone being for things like legislation of marijuana, free speech, no wars and stuff, gay rights There are left and right wing versions of each. Pretty much someone going "Hey the Bill of Rights? That's cool and good". Kyle Kulinski actually said this a few months a go about some groups wanting to ban some shithead conservative type from speaking on campus. Github has major issues with harassment and was accused of a discriminatory culture. They hired some of their major critics in order to make things better. It did not go well.

i'm not saying "you're not allowed to talk about it," i'm saying that the focus shouldn't be on the individual movie, actor, plot line, etc. because that's the symptom of the problem and not the disease there's a conversation to be had about "white woman as a prize" but it must never be framed in a context that can be construed as anti-miscegenation

Most of them (at least the younger ones) also tended to be liberal and disliked the right. And there's actually some truth to that; a lot of the leftists who attack these folks really are ignorant. But at the end of the day, the results of what they do are still undeniably bad. If you end up immersed in a social/professional group including these people, it's difficult to really see the harm in it (since you're just a cog in a greater machine that has a net negative impact, and the specific individuals you know are nice/smart people). It's really uncanny seeing something like this, because it is basically a perfect representation of how I became a defender of the finance industry while in college. Its not that a view them as paragons of virtue or magical lefty/liberals. its more that i have always been interested in the field and i think id do ok in it and maybe i could help change it. idk as i said, ill probaly be some researcher in a museum because i am "working" at a local one currently.
