https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/6jzo4z/direct_hit_stuff_potential_scaling/ So it turns out that Direct Hit actually scales pretty drat well and is the superior option for Tanks that want to hurt things (partially because Ten and Det scaling is shite). Crit is still a superior stat and should be melded where possible, though. I'm toying with the idea of crafted right-sides for overmelding purposes. (note that the google docs chart says "Direct Hit added", the base 364 does next to nothing, if not absolutely nothing)

For goad, intervention, cover, and other oGCDs that I want to target a specific party member I make a macro called Goad 2 that just has /micon "Goad" and /ac "Goad" <2> in it and put it on a vertical hotbar near the party menu. When I wanna toss it on someone I just click the button next to their name.

If you want to perfectly optimize everything, you'd compare all the possible totals directly. The relative values are a good estimate for cases like melding, though. quote:Yeah but this means the answer is definitively "crit" as long as you can get a certain amount of it, which True, but that amount is when the totals cross, which is closer to 3000. Perhaps reachable eventually, but not right now. Before that point, you shouldn't pursue more crit at the expense of direct hit until the relative value is already higher.

Hair value: 255,0,0 Highlight value: 109,81,239 This makes it so Highlight's red color blending cannot be noticed which allows blue and green to blend clearly. Use a vec3 lerp between these two and you'll get something like this gradient image here. Lemon King fucked around with this message at 20:13 on Jul 8, 2017 |

Before that point, you shouldn't pursue more crit at the expense of direct hit until the relative value is already higher. this is what i meant. the 'ideal' distribution, assuming infinite substats, would be dh until like 2k (or whenever future points of crit have better relative value than dh), and the rest crit. but if you're not going above the point where crit's value per point is better than dh's, the fact that crit scales better doesn't mean it's actually better.

The thing that surprises me the most is you're somehow pushing that data to the server. I've been able to mess around with CE and make weird changes like insanely long tails or stupid stuff with the bust slider but those are all definitely client side.

A 50S RAYGUN posted:this is what i meant. the 'ideal' distribution, assuming infinite substats, would be dh until like 2k (or whenever future points of crit have better relative value than dh), and the rest crit. No. If you had like 5000 points to put wherever you want, the correct choice would just be 5000 crit. If you can reach the point where the totals cross, the stat with higher scaling is just better. quote:but if you're not going above the point where crit's value per point is better than dh's, the fact that crit scales better doesn't mean it's actually better. Right, but since the constraints of the gear system mean you can't always trade crit for direct hit, it is feasible right now to be in situations where adding more crit is better than adding more direct hit.
