Mnoba posted:the fact there is no evidence of any russian collusion isn't trolling, not sure why i would have to explain that to a person but there you go Well to start we have that whole Trump asking them to hack Hillary on loving video, but I guess that doesn't count as evidence in your book. Even ignoring that the circumstantial evidence is compelling. Given the timing of some of the email leaks and the speed and specificity with which the Trump campaign capitalized on them. The simple fact that the Trump administration has been not only unenthusiastic but hostile towards investigation of and responding to Russian interference in the 2016 election and their attempts to undermine western democracy in general is further incriminating. At first I thought that the likelihood of direct collusion was unlikely and that it was simply a coincidence of interests and opportunity, however the actions since the election have actually made me believe that direct collusion is very likely. Additionally I think that it is likely that there is a lot of Russian money behind the GOP. In particular through these superpacs and political action groups with zero transparency and accountability. Trump's firing of Comey itself is very strong evidence to my mind that Trump is trying to hide something. Something that even he believes will be his political undoing. Bear in mind that Comey himself is a Republican. As for that matter is Mueller. The Intelligence Community itself is conservative in nature so the very fact that they are pushing this story in the first place tends to lend it credibility in my mind. These are not bleeding heart liberal socialists we're talking about. These are people who are normally very supportive of Republicans so the simple fact that they are crying foul should be cause for concern in its own right. In the end if Trump and his people didn't have anything to hide, they would not be working so hard to hide it. At a minimum even if no evidence of direct and overt collusion is never found I believe that Mueller's investigation is going to find plenty of shady poo poo in Trump's financials. Time will tell, but the fact that Russia interfered in the US 2016 election is not a question of debate, the very reasonable and relevant question is whether or not the primary beneficiary of that interference was aware, informed or complicit in coordinating it. In particular given that the one consistent trait that Trump has shown has been in defense of Putin and in doing things (such as undermining our alliances against such totalitarian states) that serve Putin and Russian interests at the expense of the United States and our allies. We may not know the specifics of what there is there, but there is most certainly something there.

You would think a president under intense scrutiny for colluding with Russia would try to distance himself from the Russian leadership but he's basically hugs and kisses with Putin. It's the most thing ever. Like how hard would it be to take a tougher stance on Russia publicly to provide some kind of cover for himself that isn't just discrediting the press? Screaming "fake newwwws!!!" isn't a defense, it's pure bullshit. Acting in a manner that wasn't bizzarely pro-Russian would at least be a real defense that his supporters could latch onto. He's not doing that though.

I think he is hiring every single person he thinks he should hire, regardless of the initial findings, just so that he can credibly say "we did the best job we could with the best people we could get and we found x" some people here seem to forget that it actually might be an investigation and not a lynch mob

While it would be bad if Trump got a majority on SCOTUS (and he may), it's unlikely that he will be able to move ahead with disenfranchisement quickly enough before 2020, to say nothing of 2018.
