Also my rear end is twice as energy dense as it was five years ago. I'm actually on my way to work out because of it. Thank you for your time.

I guess the good news for crystal dude is that most of the rocks would probably be ejected up or to the side by the cover flaps, but at the speed they'd be going it'd probably only take on hitting in the wrong place to kill you stone dead.

The real question is, what is the difference between the maximum energy density of the absolute best 18650 (or whatever cell) from 5 years ago, compared to today?

You literally have no idea what you're talking about. They've developed new lithium ion chemistries. We are employing new science in our goddamn batteries to increase energy density.

I looked it up. In 2009 the best 18650s Panasonic could produce had 2.9 Ah. In 2012 3.4 Ah became the new standard. In 2016 one can now buy 3.6 Ah 18650s.

In 8 years 18650s have improved a bit less than 25%. But from 2012 to present the improvement was only about 6%.

Those kinds of diminishing returns are expected in an industry that is quickly approaching a wall. Without new technology LiPo just isn't going to get much more energy dense than it already is.

I love that I wasn't the only person to read that typo as bulbasaur! ;)

Also the high Ah 18650s also have low amperage limits of like 5 amps. The LG HG2 however gives 3Ah at 20amp max.

More specifically, try snapping any one of three 2cm lengths of carrot held together in a chain by strong rubber bands.

Anyway it makes a good little party fact, especially because it immediately makes people think of the *snap* when you break/bite into a carrot and they imagine that happening to their fingers and cringe

I prefer fuel cells, so you get both pure H2 and pure O2 in two little cans. Also your phone now "drips" constantly.

Realtalk though, supercapacitor tech seems really exciting, although I've got to wonder about the failure modes...
