Something True is a podcast about telling "stories from the footnotes of history." It is an amazingly well produced show telling strange, non-fiction stories you've probably never heard of. Stories focus on everything from a president using his dog as a public mouthpiece, to a a poor woman getting her money, land and children taken from her over and over again, to a rocket scientist using black magic to summon the queen of demons so they can make a moonchild together, and everything in between. If any of that piques your interest, I recommend starting with the first episode, The President's Dog, and listening to them in order. The series just finished its first season, and is currently in hiatus.

It syncs across platforms - my iPad and the old Galaxy S I use as an alarm clock are synced with my phone (and your computer too if you pay for access to the web version) and its got the recently released list, variable podcast speed and silence removal like the other popular apps too.

Hello, all! I am starting several podcasts next week under the Jesse Hecht CREATIVE umbrella next week and I was wondering if I could have some advice from my fellow goons on how to proceed. I was thinking of doing four days of the following: MONDAY Paper Mario Gameplay Commentary TUESDAY Action Figure Commentary WEDNESDAY Disney Animated Films Commentary THURSDAY Mario Maker Levels Commentary Courage the Cowardly Dog Episode Commentary Friday and Saturday will showcase my drawings, writings, photography, and food reviews on my website (podcasts will be linked there). Sunday will be a day off. I'm mostly looking for help with the Action Figure and Disney commentaries. If interested please reply or message me. The more the merrier! Thank you for reading and thank you for your help. JesseHechtCREATIVE fucked around with this message at 22:20 on Jun 14, 2017 |

Any recommendations for something along the lines of "comedian(s) teach you about a thing" where that thing isn't current events or pop culture? I already listen to The Dollop and Sawbones.

Jack Parsons was so into black magic that Aliester Crowley looked at him and said "dude maybe slow it down a bit." (If I'm wrong and this is about a different black magic rocket scientist I will be surprised; I guess I'll just have to listen to the podcast to find out)

Any suggestions for podcasts similar to pre-crisis The Canon but very very different from We Hate Movies and How Did This Get Made? Something that focuses on the history and critical analysis of movies but also without hosts that are trying to be funny.

The Next Picture Show may be just the thing for you.quote:"A biweekly roundtable by the former editorial team of The Dissolve examining how classic films inspire and inform modern movies. Episodes take a deep dive into a classic film and its legacy in the first half, then compare and contrast that film with a modern successor in the second. Hosted and produced by Genevieve Koski, Keith Phipps, Tasha Robinson and Scott Tobias. Part of the Filmspotting family of podcasts and the Panoply Network."

I'm guessing most podcast apps don't really handle soundcloud, right?

If the app supports subscription via RSS feeds it should, as long as the SoundCloud user makes sure to set it up.

I couldn't find it via Podcast Addict's search function either. As far as I'm aware, SoundCloud is basically it's own independent thing and it'd need to be put up on Stitcher or Libsyn or something similar to be found. Not sure why he's not doing that.

Overcast won't add it at all, which is weird since the RSS feed is actually a valid podcast XML format. But yeah, it has no episodes in it. code:

I'm at the Crimetown live show in Providence right now, it's very cool. Intermission right now but they're doing a Q&A when it comes back. Just mentioning it because there's still tickets for the Boston show on Saturday, and if you live around there you should check it out. Even if you haven't listened to it yet.

It's not bad, I'd skip most of the evidence episodes that come later on. The first handful of episodes are so so because he's still learning what to do. It does get interesting around February of this year or so.

I'm not sure if the best idea for a first episode was listing all the other, better, more popular podcasts you could be listening to and then doing bad parodies of what he imagines those shows are like, because all it did was just make me want to listen to those shows instead.
