il serpente cosmico posted:Thanks for the tips everyone--I'll keep practicing and I'm sure I'll eventually get there. Grapplers are beaten with good buttons. It used to be grapplers had lots of good buttons but SFV (so gief gets cr.lp). Find which of your moves hit each grappler just outside of the range of their own normals. Fireballs can be considered an extension of normals. Once you find this distance, just abuse the hell out of it and back up the whole screen. Punish the jumpins and you're gold.

I don't think this is a strategy you can rely on for too long unless you're playing someone like Karin.

If the grappler is really decent at the grapplin' your only real out in this game is to learn when they want to grab you and try to neutral jump or hit a fast button first. Most new people's problem with them is blocking too much and then not knowing how to adjust fast enough when you realize they're taking advantage of that. Some of the only fun I ever had in this game was trying to train people to eat Laura or Alex's dash up throws.

I'm finally trying to get relatively good at Street Fighter and am working my way through the series, which is v satisfying. Obviously I'm still getting murdered on Fightcade but hey-ho I'm much better than I was a month ago and can reliably DP now. But I've gotta ask, what's up with Bison's repeated attempts to put his soul in the body of sexy teenagers?

Wasn't Bipson originally a girl. The Bipson you saw in ST was a frail body that didn't mature for long enough, the super buff Bipson in Alpha was another body version, the Bipson in 5 is yet another body, etc.

City dependent obviously, but the town I used to be in had them held twice (or maybe more?) and both times the turnout was under eight people.

It is so cool that during a major fighting game tournament with a lot of eyes that Capcom put it's game on sale on steam. To be fair GG isn't either, but Tekken is.

For anyone that cares, top 8 SFV EVO is: Winners Punk vs Itabashi NuckleDu vs Kazunoko Losers Tokido vs FChamp moke vs MOV So we have Karin, Gief, Guile, Cammy, Akuma, Sim, Rashid, and Chun in SFV EVO finals. I'm excited

So was it more or did no one ever play Crimson Viper? Out of all the new characters in 4, she seems to be the least popular.

Of the originals of 4 least popular was hakan/gouken. juri shortly after popular were like rufus, abel, seth viper People were confused about her in vanilla because she was unlike other characters, then she spent the rest of the games life being a consistent threat through all balance changes with a few character specialists latif and wolfkrone being the first to come to mind. I have a hard time with how to consider evil ryu oni poison so i didn't include them here. SectumSempra fucked around with this message at 04:21 on Jul 16, 2017 |

Mine was double elim except for 1) no double elim in grand finals, I lost the first set and then they just told me other dude won and I got 2nd, we were both pissed and started yelling. We actually had a crowd watching us to so im sure that played loving great to them. 2) I had to beat this one guy 3 times, i don't loving know why Everyone there was all confused and pissed but then one of the cineplex guys got in our face and started slinging poo poo like "You guys might be new but this is how street fighter tournaments are run". At least at the one I was at there wasn't a hubub over sticks like many other places I have heard.
