In the US the stickers on fruits and veggies are food grade, made with edible paper and adhesive. Never seen or heard about stickers on bread though, that's still weird.

I don't even think stickers on produce is that common anymore, is it? Not that I actively take note of this sort of thing, but I can't remember the last time I bought some that had stickers on it.

It looks like a pretty simple build but you'd need to change the way the ring is pulled up because there's zero chance it wouldn't rotate or twist in motion but if you stabilize it there's no reason this wouldn't work.
