The Hurricanes oldest defenseman is 25 years old, and all have been drafted by the team too except Dahlbeck. Considering that half the league is looking for puck moving defenseman and trading an Adam Larsson can get you a Taylor Hall, the Hurricanes seem like they're in a really good position right now.

I remember back in the day when d-men were considered late in maturing but in the span of half a decade it feels like awesome forwards are awesome when 20-21 and defenders only a year or two later. Also sophomore slump used to be a regular thing. e:really like the Canes D, a 1C and they could be a bitch to play against Ligur fucked around with this message at 19:13 on Jul 12, 2017 |

ThinkTank posted:Yeah, I dunno what PPP was talking about there. Summer LTIR is very much a thing and has been since the first CBA. In terms of available cap space it's far better to figure out how to cram the injured guys onto your opening day roster and then throw them onto LTIR, but there's nothing stopping you from putting them on LTIR in the summer (except for the fact that you'd end up with a bit less additional cap space during the season). In their defence Daly literally said "There's no LTI in the summer" less than two weeks ago when talking about Hossa, so there was definitely cause for confusion.

coyotes fill out their front office by adding ASU's AD from 2011-2013 steve patterson as president and CEO and tacking on president of hockey operations to chayka's title. Good moves I think, coyotes seem like they really need someone who can maneuver in phoenix

He wasn't the AD for very long but he was present during the time that ASU started to change from perennially disappointing and underfunded to at least reasonable in basketball and football, so hopefully he can turn it around on the business side too.

Having an extra tenant can only help that arena deal at this point, to be honest. Even if ASU is only going to be drawing likely a few hundred people per game

Reading about a potential 4-team swap in the NBA had me wondering if the NHL has ever had multi-team swaps. Apparently it's happened even more recently than I could have imagined, as the Coyotes/Preds/Habs all had a deal that mostly centered around Tinordi in January 2016.

The 'Canes would be a good team if somebody told their GM that you can't put question marks for your third and fourth lines on the roster card and let whoever shows up skate a dozen shifts per night.

The coyotes ended up getting gagner by way of tampa too. I think it's mostly because of the weird hard cap on salary in nba trades, so you have to ship off dead weight at the same time you're bringing a star in
