Another new Arcade Fire track. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UymXRxJPOQo I know the new tracks have been a bit polarizing in this thread, but I really like the vibe of this album so far.

I am glad that you enjoy but I am so tired of Arcade Fire, I think they're so overrated and do not enjoy them at all.

Arcade Fire is very good and I salute the Silver Robot from Daft Punk for pranking the poo poo out of all of their fans by helping them make a straight up disco album

I'm really shocked that a band this big (in both stature and actual members) have had two albums in a row now that sound so deeply informed by their dance music producers. Every single song so far sounds like Arcade Fire crashed directly into post-RAM Daft Punk. Everything Now is more them, but every other track has Daft Punk signatures in the same way you could hear LCDSS lurking around all over Reflektor. imo Reflektor had a really interesting push pull going on with the bands darker sensibility and drama trying to live in the same world as Murphy's style of clean dance music and kind of inexplicably met in the middle over a shared love of the Haitian rhythm and sound. The more I listen for it the more I think the fusion brought something better out of both. Murphy got pulled away from his bad tendency to drone or stare at one "loop" longer than needed, AF found a way to express some of the heavier stuff they like to do without having to turn off the part that makes people dance at the same time. And so far it sounds like they got a big kick out of that and are determined to make an honest to god nu-disco album. I dig it. edit: Is the sound that's annoying people the one that sounds like these guys? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rs1ifGlKpfE Princeps32 posted:only one of the four of the songs released has fully worked for me. the sound has convinced me to go back to reflektor though, i haven't given that a full listen in a while. I was a really big fan of Funeral and Neon Bible and thought Suburbs was bloated, un-fun and needed editing. Something about my first listen to Reflektor made me give up. Probably flashbulb eyes, now that I think about it because that's not a good song, but waiting for this new album made me go back to it via indvidual tracks at first and then as a whole after I "got" a few of them and listening for James Murphy in it, who I like a lot. It's still 2nd to last on my rankings but Reflektor, We Exist, It's Never Over, Afterlife and Here Comes the Night Time really got me onboard with the new direction. These songs are alright and the first three Arcade Fire albums are classics. Reflektor was just ok in my book, and that's what this one looks to be as well.

I was wondering what was wrong with me that I really enjoy all 4 of the tracks, then I remembered I'm an Arcade Fire stan who has LCD Soundsystem and Daft Punk in his top 5 artists so this is a weird miracle baby for me so far. I hope this leads to a Regine spotlight during the new tour. Haiti -> Sprawl II -> Electric Blue would be dope, and it's kind of a crazy example of the band's progression over time.

The second Baio record was alright but it pales in comparison to the first, it's much more standard indie sound. The first one went in some weird electronic directions which I appreciated.

Having listened to it, I am not clamoring to listen to it again. It's not the band I was hoping to hear and, for me, this album is going to be forgotten. What makes it even more frustrating is how close they come to making songs I could get down with. Put Your Money On Me actually does good things, but Peter Pan's chorus sucks and spoils the rest of it and it's things like the latter that just suppress the whole effort.
