Jesus, challenge mode just looks painful, I've got the guy for it unlocked, but I haven't been brave enough to give it a shot, dunno if I will after this.

It, like everything in the Gungeon, is designed against the player and is incredibly cruel. The Dragun will always spawn with Rage and High Stress.

What are the "beneficial" modifiers supposed to be?

I suppose it could be considered good, but with any creep related modifiers, it's a couple enemies frozen in place and a bunch of jammed enemies that you don't always have eyes on.

I don't believe positive modifiers are implemented yet!

I'd like to suggest a run: Wear a hat and sunglasses and make a frowny face in real life while you play.

Surprised you made it to the Dragun given how boned you got on items in general. Not sure I agree with destroying green chests to power up Junkan, but you were scraping by anyway having to use garbage weapons like the Corsair. They buffed it a while ago so that shots curve towards enemies whereas before they just went straight and bounced around, but it still does low damage and isn't the sort of thing you want during the hassle of challenge mode. It's only worth using if you can also get the synergy with the Balloon Gun, really. Buying the glass guon stone was an obvious mistake but you ended up dying to the Dragun high stress combo anyway so I doubt it would have mattered much what you did before that point.

I feel like I need a nap just after watching the video. High Stress is aptly named. Also the frequent clenched-teeth commentary reminded me of comedian Lewis Black.

(whoops ha ha boy that sure was a lot of words about a dumb thing) 11 hours and 30-some-odd deaths, I'm contemplating modding the game a little. What would people think about boosting characters' starting load-outs w/ the things you can buy from Acquisitions: The Pilot can always start with the Flash Ray The Marine can start with the Hegemony Carbine The Convict can start with the RPG & the Hunter can start with Rocket-Propelled Bullets (maybe?); ...and what would you consider a reasonable criteria for unlocking these upgrades? (I.e., getting to a certain floor, beating a certain boss, killing that characters' past, etc.) Ghost of Starman fucked around with this message at 20:29 on Jul 9, 2017 |

Today's run is another challenge run!Zebrin posted:You still accepting challenge runs? I think I have an idea for one. I looked around for guns that I think are lousy that I can turn into machines of destruction, and here's what I've got. Klobberin' Time/Polsy Ghost of Starman posted:(whoops ha ha boy that sure was a lot of words about a dumb thing) I'm not sure about criteria, but the guns you start out with should both be kinda bad and thematic. The Convict might start out with Casey since it's a baseball bat and she's a mob-type criminal. Don't let my gameplay fool you, Casey is a D-rank weapon and even though I think it's REALLY GOOD it's kinda...bad sometimes? The Marine could get the basic shotgun, since it's extremely DOOM thematic. You could give the Pilot the Flash Ray, but Flash Ray Bad. You could give the Pilot cigarettes, since he's cool and cool people smoke. As for the Hunter, either the sling or the wolf.

I think you're a bit too down on the Flare Gun. While it's not great it does kill most basic enemies on the first few floors with one shot (albeit with a bit of a delay), so it's a workable room clearer if you haven't got anything better.

I gotta admit, it was pretty cathartic seeing you completely wax the Gungeon with those weapons. Shame about the Dragun though.

When that one boss turned the room dark, could you have used the Flare gun to light it up?

It really seems like some bullets (specifically from the cannonballrog) aren't stopped by guon stones at all, which is bullshit. The game breaks its own rules!

Hey my "challenge" made it. And apparently wasn't so much a challenge as it was a relaxing romp through the Gungeon to recover from the real challenge mode. Pity about the HUBRIS!!! moment on the Dragun, but hey, them's the breaks.

The Get Huge run. Start with stout bullets, fat bullets, and heavy bullets. You can only use the gun the fires the largest projectile.

Thunder God Raiden Coil, Space Friend, Super Space turtle, R2-Gun2, Wax Wings. (maybe the ancient hero's bandanna or something that gives you ammo) Not sure if it'd be particularly difficult, but it would probably be fun since we rarely, if ever, see the Beam weapons used.

Can only use the Quad Laser. As a special reward for completing all the shortcuts, the Tinker has one more special elevator for us. Boss Rush/Polsy On an unrelated note, Skippy Granola and I guested in Fiendly's podcast about LPs and video games and stuff. Check it out! https://www.lp.zone/t/violent-waves-podcast-take-a-swim-in-the-deep-end/2191 On a final related note, the next episode of Gungeon will be the last. I'll be mixing in a few different run ideas that couldn't quite carry a run on their own, because they're all at least lightly entertaining. So stay tuned!
