One of them has extreme reflexes, super strength, and a lance made out of a collapsed sun. The lance is basically light/plasma and can morph/teleport/be semi-fluid

So not really then?

It's a great character design for a character that is nothing like any Thanos I am familiar with or the presentation of Thanos in the MCU. Not that there would be any problem with just ditching his fascinating characterization up to this point as "bad guy who is the most bad, and the most guy"

Maybe he's couch crashing Thanos, that particular Darkseid interpretation hasn't shown up in the Thanos mirror yet has it?

Yeah it makes 0 sense for any reasonable or likely version of the character. It's a good design for Space Steel or Space Collosus though

I'd recommend Infinity by Jonathan Hickman for anyone interested in Thanos and his posse. It's also a really good Avengers in space story. Thor and Cap get one of the best scenes ever in a Avengers book.

Pretty major possible spoilers, but apparently Thanos has a second costume in the movie that looks very different from his reveal costume. In a clip that looks like it's from near the end of the movie he has a helmet, some very ornate golden armor, and a still incomplete Infinity Gauntlet that matches the armor, which he uses to apparently kill Thor by crushing his head.

So basically his regular costume versus his casual khakis and wifebeater?

Looks different than his previous MCU armor. It has a vibrating pulse effect around it and is more ornate/has blue gem accents.

Was Thanos supposed to be like a giant, because he's like an all-powerful god or something?

Like what Galactus was? Come to think of it...where does Glactus fit in the MCU?

Thanos is just an extremely tall person. Like 7 feet.

The movie rights to Galactus are part of the Fantastic Four and owned by Fox.

They have to either:

- Decide to sell the rights back to Marvel
- Not have a Fantastic Four movie in production for at least 7 years

Eh, I can't really think of anything Galactus would bring to the table at this point that Marvel doesn't already have. There's always Shub-Nurath if Marvel decides they want an even bigger threat than Thanos next.

Sony just literally gave their property to Marvel and had them MCU it up and it was their highest inflation-adjusted opening in the studio's entire history.

The rumor/conventional wisdom is that Marvel is trying to tank promotion of Fantastic Four to force Fox's hand.

But I'd say Fox is doing a bang up job destroying the license on their own. The other important thing to note is that Fantastic Four seem pretty boring compared to what the MCU is doing. If they faded away, I wouldn't be upset. If Mr. Fantastic had been an antagonist of Tony Stark all along - maybe there would have been some nice tension.

Just a quick reminder, Sony tried to make a cinematic universe around the Spider-Man lore...and it ended quickly before it even began.

Fox is already working on another FF movie. Supposedly they're now developing a script that would focus on Franklin and Valeria Richards (Reed and Sue's kids), with Johnny Storm and Thing playing leading roles, and Reed and Sue basically being in the background.

I wish the Sony Spider-Man Universe ended up happening, just so I could see the Aunt May: Superspy movie.

Although, I am interested in seeing how Sony makes a movie with Venom where Venom's origin is not tied to Spider-Man that has Carnage as a villain and Carnage's origin is not tied to Venom.

I don't think they are going to keep escalating. Feige has said that Infinity War will be the last "big" MCU movie for a long time. The buzzwords/format going forward is "Unexpected team-ups and intimate character stories."

True, but sooner or later Marvel's going to want to do something big again and someone like Shuma-Gorath or Cthon feels like a natural choice.

Amusingly, in the most recent retelling of Darkseid origin turns out Darkseid used to be a farmer named Uxas who sow distrust among the old gods, prompting them to destroy each other.

Highfather was his brother and a herder named Izaya before receiving the powers of a dying god so he could challenge his brother.
