There's a Presidential Volunteer award where you get a certificate, lapel pin and robo-signed letter from the President. This year there just wasn't a letter at all. https://twitter.com/crushingbort/status/886275466738454528 fosborb fucked around with this message at 03:06 on Jul 16, 2017 |

She's nearly there- Spain is closer to the equator, which gets the most sun, than Britain, but she's gone and confused "gets sun" as being "is near the sun". Anyway. A Gordon Highlander, with a seagull on his head. The War Memorial in Aberdeen, curiously sans seagull. William Wallace, seagull absent, but dropping present. Rabbie Burns, with seagull and droppings. The cemetery at St Machar Cathedral.Rumour has it Wallace's bones are crushed into the mortar that made the walls around the cathedral. My ex was some photographer, eh. There's more from that set that are just Aberdeen and some from Edinburgh without any real political significance, if anyone's interested.

Places near the equator are warmer primarily because the sun is more directly overhead, so a given amount of sunlight is concentrated on a smaller surface area. At higher latitudes the sun hits at a shallower angle, so its rays are spread out over a greater area. There are other effects but that's the main one.
