ThndrShk2k posted:Hot take: capitalism itself is bad yes, people are bad, but that's a problem any system has to grapple with. the problem with capitalism is that it relies on some basic assumptions that either aren't true (like "there will always be enough work for everyone, labor-eliminating measures will generate enough jobs to be a net gain") or morally unacceptable (like "access to basic necessities should depend on the value to provide to capital"). The regulatory mechanism that capitalism provides to explain many of its supposed advantages, the so-called "invisible hand", fails more often than it succeeds and is so easily subverted that it's largely a fictional mechanism. capitalism is fundamentally a broken system, one that happened to be decently-suited to the conditions of the 19th century but is largely outdated and obsolete now

However throughout all of human society those that control more resources, have more influence, or are just straight up stronger, are often not beholden to that system. You make everyone equal by ensuring that everyone is treated equally under the law, currently that is not the case. You also need to ensure that there is a mechanism that those who have more, pay more.

Speaking of garbage neoliberals, this is what candidate Hillary said about austerity last year: https://www.hillaryclinton.com/briefing/updates/2016/06/21/hillary-clinton-in-ohio-trump-shouldnt-have-his-hands-on-our-economy/ quote:We know what sound fiscal policy looks like and it sure isn’t running up massive debts to pay for giveaways to the rich. And it is not painful austerity that hurts working families and undercuts our long-term progress. It’s being strong, stable, and making smart investments in our future. So let’s set the right priorities and pay for them, so we can hand our children a healthier economy and a better future. Hillary was going to be Macron

i mean, if you need one more reason why capitalism is no good, it's reason #1 fat baby trump led a life of luxury, free from worry, until he became our racist cheeto president. capitalism is why trump could fail over and over and over and over and stay insanely wealthy and eventually become the president of our nation
