There must be something better than spending hours supercruising around looking for signals?

Usually the mission description has a planet name. When you get close to the planet a special mission signal will spawn. No need to fly aimlessly looking into every USS in the system. Be ready for a fight.

Just a note that in order to get this to show up in the mission description you'll need to either scan the system's nav beacon or use a discovery scanner.

Go to the nav beacon in the target system download data, you will either get a message that you need to do it the old fashioned way or a pointer to a specific planet. The pirates will spawn slowly at the beacon itself, slowly via USS, quite often in supercruise near the target planet (interdictor needed), or go to a res site (if there is one) and they'll be all over the place.

:spergin: ahead

This isn't really possible in this game in most situations*.

Ships have complete freedom of movement and pitch is any ship's second strongest rotation. Combined, this means that a ship is free to move away from you as you attempt to describe a circle around it, meaning it has a smaller angle to rotate to face you and you have a much larger distance to traverse at the same time.

Just imagine that 'r' is increasing and what that means for the length-of-arc S.

*You can get a few moments to just unload it all on a target, mostly vs the largest ships, if you get really *really* close *and* you have a major speed and acceleration advantage.

Before I picke dup the mission, i purchased an interdictor because I thought it would be needed.

So I originally flew to the nav beacon... flew around for a little and then proceeded to super cruise around the system for hours hitting various unidentified signals.

There was "Weapon Fire Detected [Threat 1]" "Convoy Dispersion Detected [Threat 3]" and something else that was threat 4.. all of them nothing really, got some nice bounties out of some of the ships i killed at them except the threat 4 which was a bunch of dangerous wanted guys who just said I had nothing of value on comms.

I'm guessing the thing I missed was I need to go to comms and contact the beacon screen like docking is done to download data?

How is that threat system weighted?

How does the cargo system work? I scooped tons of materials and such out of some exploded shipwreck stuff but I got full only after scooping an occupied escape pod..

The higher the number, the bigger the potential threat. Some high threat level USS's are really aimed to people playing in a wing, so may be too much for a lone pilot. Some low level ones can occasionally be found near planets, and these can be satellites transmitting data which when followed up can lead to all sorts of things.

TipsyMcStagger posted:

Materials are separate to cargo, and they fill up your materials slot which you can see in the same screen as you view your current cargo.

10,000 YEARS WASN'T ENOUGH LURKING
All these posts bitching about how other players are actually affecting the game in which you play, is just sad. This is a (somewhat) living/breathing/active universe, lots of things going on in the background that... holy poo poo!? Actually change the game! (What a novel idea!)

All of you that are spending time on this sub downvoting anyone who says "fight back" (using the same drat tools that the Sirius Op. players are using) instead of helping Sirius Corp... I don't understand your mentality and maybe this game isn't for you.
I'm sick of watching this community bitch at each other over game mechanics that actually make sense and are engaging (we all know it ain't perfect, but it's what we got!)

Ya, Engineers are a grind... they loving suck, but you don't have to get ole' Marcus Qwent to enjoy the game. If you just wait 3 loving days your lockdown will be over (well, 3-14 days maybe.)
Read up on the BGS so you know what the hell is going on. Everyone who plays the BGS studied it and is good at it. So NUT UP and fight back!

And for fucks sake, stop thinking Ollo is a one man army doing all this poo poo, (we don't care about the downvotes... it's just loving stupid at this point) Actually... Ollo probably likes it, lol but he's crazy like that.

Anyways... go play the game and stop bitching!

Exit super-cruise at the nav-beacon target it now point your ship at it and wait while it auto scans, it'll download the system data to your ship and give you a pointer (sometimes) for your mission. If not for pirate hunts hang around in supercruise, once you see where they spawn hang around there. Pirate hunts can be a proper pain in the arse without a res site, but they do pay well.

Pods are cargo so the max is your cargo space, materiel's have an upper limit of 1000 and are separate check your right hand screen to see how much space you have. If you want to dump stuff to make room get rid of common things like iron as it's really easily gathered planet-side be careful you don't ditch rare things you'll need for good upgrades..
