He didn't perform in the NLD at the end of the season that ensured CL was out of reach. And there were other times he didn't quite show up despite his high work rate. However, yes other garbage men were involved. But, throughout the season, failure to score was a bigger problem than conceding.

Sanchez scored 30 goals and provided 15 assists last season, think it's fair to say you can't really lay the blame at his door for failing in a team sport. Definitely worth more than £50m to the club to keep him and likely have a better season than without him. I'm very much of the 'if they don't want to wear the shirt gently caress em' school of thought but I don't think he will play badly on purpose, who knows though he may decide he is a modern day slave
