Nah, definitely not.

Anyway yeah the thread can persevere through this. This is like the third derail around basically the same topic. I dig this thread a lot even when some posters are being reductive.

Well, that aligns with the vibes I was getting. Which was, like, "normal" kinda vibes.
So with regards to the casino bros and Anthony the insurance man: When the brothers see him on the camera they say that they don't trust that slimy gently caress as far as they can throw him. Then he comes in and feeds them a line about how he totally didn't screw up their insurance fraud but it was totally Dougie, the guy who effectively took out Ike the Spike. Are they really supposed to be so dumb that they hear a guy they don't trust tell them that someone else cost them a fortune and suddenly believe them? Wouldn't you think that whatever Tony said, the opposite is actually true and make Tony way more suspicious? And why tangle yourself back up with Dougie; cut your losses and be thankful that you don't have to pay for the hit on Ike. I didn't catch all of what they were saying at the end, when they were back at their house and talking about setting up a meeting, but it seems like they're gonna go back after Dougie based on the testimony of a known liar.

e: sorry, let me translate that into Twin Peaks thread-speak. So when Anthony rapes his way into the casino the brothers own and then rapes the truth to them about Dougie raping their insurance scam, how come they plan to rape Dougie instead of tossing Tony out?

I've got a post queued up about how Richard raped a glass door with his knee and later raped his grandmother's safe and purse (not to mention the druggie domestic abuser raping a window with his mug) so if we want to keep this rape train a-rolling I'm fine; I just think there's other stuff to dwell on that doesn't involve Janey-E and the person who she thinks is her husband.

Which post shamed you? Could you quote it? (I think you're both being a little bit silly, here.)

So you think Dougie couldn't consent, ok. I think he knows more than that and is not comparable to a retarded person (like Rita from arrested development, the example used in the thread) I think he's magic and Jane had no reason to believe from what we saw that he didn't consent, especially with the time skip

Pretty much this. I get that some people can put aside the situation to just enjoy the physical comedy, but for me I have so many friends who have been traumatized by sexual assault in "ambiguous" situations that I can't laugh at that. And I'm especially scared of anyone that is saying that it's unambiguously not rape. Because those are the sorts of people who hurt my friends.

and here, if someone thinks Dougie could consent, there isn't really anything to "look past," so saying that is what they are doing is trying to shame them

that addresses what you wanted I think

I interpreted that Anthony/Mitchums scene as them missing how suspiciously Anthony is acting because they already had designs on Dougie, and so were more willing to accept the idea. Also I just love Sizemore's performance in that scene. He's such an awful liar.

He definitely isn't. He's involved with Mr. Todd and his crew (specifically Mr. Todd/Winky's guy seems to be an underling of his), who we find out in this latest eps are business rivals with the Mitchums. Mr. Todd etc are just trying to use them to solve the Dougie problem as well as absolve themselves of suspicion with the insurance claim.

It's about a teenage dwarf with powers over electricity who becomes a post-industrial rock star. It was supposed to star Michael J Anderson. De Laurentiis still owns the script as far as I know, so it's not getting made, but this season apparently borrows a bunch of stuff from it.

In fact, this whole season feels like a story woven together from the dustbin of Things Lynch Never Got to Do Because of Studio Motherfuckers. Which is a pretty great thing.
