So when he runs and doesn't get DSA support he can pull out "I'm an active member of the DSA and they can't even show up for one of their own!" excuse to pressure them. One of his staffers pulled some lame poo poo after crashing the Bay area delegates meeting despite definitely not being a delegate or invited and cheesed off a few folks with some performative antics.

yeah other than that praxis seems extremely better than momentum

edit: to clarify though, other than generally knowing what's going on, this only matters for delegates, right? non delegates get no votes?

Yes, but how your delegates vote may not yet be set in stone. For example, my local has a meeting next week where we're voting on general guidelines for our delegates, and we'll be trusting them to vote proportionally (i.e. if something goes 66% to 34% we expect two thirds of our delegates to vote the one way and one third to vote the other way).

Depending on how your chapter is set up, you might still be able to express your desire to see your delegates back a given platform and/or slate; if you're not sure, definitely ask either your leadership committee or someone else you can contact that might know.

the best part is that the Momentum and Praxis slates aren't really directly opposing each other, meaning that you/your local's reps can pick and choose which people/parts of the slates they want

(because both have really good points and I support)

Conflict resolution. He said he's done over 500 mediations and has experience in training people in mediation and if the group is interested he can help train.

She didn't get to be your proxy for much in the end, there was a hangup with passing the criminal justice committee, they had some language in their charter regarding the committee's ability to kick people out of the committee that people wanted more clarification on and then there were a few amendments from the floor so we had to push all bylaw votes to next meeting because of it.

This is a dumb question, but what are Momentum and Praxis? Are they the two directions the DSA might take for the future or what?

Impermanent

they're slates of people running for the national political committee with different visions of where to take DSA's new growth. Praxis is oriented around organizing a mass movement by investing in chapter's ability to local organizing, while Momentum wants to take us towards a more cadre approach with less members that are more active.

Maybe I don't understand how slates work or maybe DSA is taking a different approach, but I thought I had seen a delegate mention that people could vote for different candidates from different slates giving a strong and strange possibility of leadership that's a mix of multiple slates.

yeah the slates aren't that big so there's a real possibility that all members of both slates could join the NPC.

I will also note for the purposes of intellectual honesty that momentum's stated goal is not "reduce our size" but the majority of their policies virtually guarantee that (including the 1% income dues.)
