At least English language makes it pretty easy to use gender-neutral terms (unfortunately getting people to do it is a whole other story). Try doing that for languages where even objects have grammatical genders. I can't think of ANY gender neutral pronouns in Portuguese.

Even without a gender imbalance, the old custom of keeping as many wives as you could afford made sure millions of men could never get a wife. IIRC they mostly ended up in bandit gangs or religious movements like the Taiping. Given Chinese historical consciousness, I wouldn't be surprised if this results in something like a government matchmaking service.

Despite what anyone says ship countermeasures are not good enough and you just send a ton of missiles + mines and you can sink pretty much any aircraft carrier no problem. This is basically what keeps the Navy up at night. They're ridiculously vulnerable against other ships and only really good as bombing platforms against undeveloped nations.
