Too Shy Guy posted:The Weeklong Deals this week are kinda ugly, but if you'd like to peruse my rundown you can get some fun horror-y stuff like the Gabriel Knight remake and Zombie Driver. All of Arcen's games are on sale too if you want to grab Starward Rogue or AI War or some weird, kinda bad games. I don't know if this is something you can answer or maybe someone else can help, but I got a popup notification that you had made an announcement about the weekly deals. "Cool," I thought. "I'll check that out." I can't find the announcement. I go to your curator page, and there's your reviews, but no announcements. I go to community and I only see stuff for games, not curators. Where should I be looking?

For anyone who was thinking about trying Gigantic because it sounds like some sort of weird DOTA/Shadow of the Colossus hybrid, don't bother. It's a straight up generic MOBA, the giant monsters don't do anything except sit in your base and act as turrets. There are some straight up No Man's Sky levels of advertising core features that are nowhere to be seen, but at least it was free. The official site even says verbatim "GIGANTIC IS NOT 5V5, IT’S REALLY 6V6" but umm... Apparently the dev ran out of funds before release, and the team was so proud of their game that they stuck around and kept working on it for free without pay, because it's allegedly such an amazingly unique game. I don't know if they never got around to developing the unique parts or what but it makes me kind of sad that people would stick around at a job that laid them off and stopped paying them just to finish development of a generic Battleborn clone. The community seems to be pushing marketing hard on the pity angle of "They didn't even get paid to finish this game! We need to support these guys!" and I don't understand it deep dish peat moss fucked around with this message at 21:40 on Jul 24, 2017 |

The remake removes a bunch of interactions and incidental details that made the world of the game feel more fleshed out for no reason. Most damnably, the remake (as adventure game remakes generally do) doesn't improve on the "old school sensibilities" of the puzzle design, manages to make some of them far more annoying for absolutely no reason, and proceeds to introduce new puzzles that would have been just as infamous as that loving cat mustache, had anyone bothered to actually play the it.

It's not a MOBA except for discrete characters and per match leveling, there's no creeps or lanes or anything like that. Admittedly they advertise it as a "shooter MOBA" or whatever but I think that's mainly because they tried to escape the comparisons early on and just couldn't. Advertising core features like what? Everything on the Steam page is in the game. Battleborn clone, when they were announced publicly within days of each other, sure. Community response I don't know or care about. Like, look if you don't like the game that's fine, don't put people off trying it themselves with a bunch of bullshit. Orv fucked around with this message at 21:53 on Jul 24, 2017 |

Driving around, spotting a car I've been searching for and then storing in the garage and suping it up. Going around to stores and finding the right clothes you like. Mafia III has none of that. You can call someone who will bring you one of like six cars. You don't get to own them and apparently you can mod them but I never got that far. I guess you can change your clothes now (but in your underling's office for some reason?) Just seems like they want to remake the kind of game they had with Mafia but always miss a big chunk. I got duped by Mafia III, so I'm not falling for that again if they try for Mafia IV.

One bit of testimony about DOOM: I've got a pretty good CPU, but only an HD 7870 video card, just barely meeting the minimum GPU spec. After the game implemented Vulkan support, it runs comfortably at 1080P, 60+ FPS with shadows set to Low and the other settings at High-Ultra. It was loving rad.

Was just given like 1 cool trailer in E3 the year before and thrown out in May without any push. Reviews were also ok it has 82 score for critics in metacritics. Ign gave it a loving 4/10 lol. The same IGN which gave a 9/10 to Evolve, a 7/10 to Doom. Also gave Mass Effect Andromeda a 7 when its 5/10 at best just because the multiplayer is fun.

comingafteryouall posted:So I'm getting a new computer, after not having one that can run new games for like 10 years. I've played a bunch of indie games that were able to run on laptops with integrated graphics cards. I have a few games to try out through bundles (and buying DOOM while it was on sale this weekend). Outside of this list, what are the absolute best of the best from the last 5 years or so? I'll go through my Steam library and make some suggestions. Be warned none of these are set in stone as my taste isn't exactly stellar. - Alien: Isolation - Alpha Protocol - Assassin's Creed: If you want to get into this, choose one of these: Ezio Trilogy(2, Brotherhood, Rev); Black Flag OR Rogue(They're essentially the same game, gameplay wise); Syndicate. Don't be crazy like me and play them all, you'll hate yourself. - Batman: The correct order is Asylum>City>Shadows of Mordor>Knight(If you're still not tired of them) - Bayonetta - Dishonored 1 & 2(On sale right now at Bundle Stars and Gamers Gate - Dying Light - Hollow Knight & Hyper Light Drifter: You could probably run these on your old PC but I'm putting them here anyway cause they rule - Mad Max - Metal Gear Rising - Red Faction: Guerrila (Don't get Armageddon, it sucks) - Sleeping Dogs - Tales from the Borderlands - The Witcher 3 GOTY I was going to bold the ones I consider essential but ended up doing almost all of them Of all of these, Mad Max and the complete Batman series are the only one I wouldn't jump over. All the others are spectacular in some way or another. edit: Not Steam: - Titanfall 2, on sale at Origin right now: Probably the best FPS of the decade, you can't miss this. IIRC one of the major reviewers was suffering horrible game-crashing issues, so the score suffered a lot. I don't remember which house that was but it seems like the game was pretty buggy during that critical post-release review period And yeah, poor marketing and basically no name recognition except among those who were upset about not getting a proper Prey sequel
