my old employer eventually paid for global entry for all the transgender employees because the madison airport TSA just couldn't wait to get their hands up some transgender skirts for some loving reason.

last time i went to ottawa the guy was literally like "how long" and i was like "3 nights" and he's like "work" and i was like "yup" and he handed me back my passport. this is a big step up from pre-9/11, when the americans used to get annoyed at the lines coming back from niagara falls so the us border dudes would just start waving anyone with us plates through

there is no real interview for precheck, they just take your fingerprints and scan your passport.

isn't that the GE interview? I thought precheck was basically no work if you ask an airline to vouch for you?

...regardless, if you're putting any effort in, pay/use the travel card bonus/expense GE if you're looking at PreCheck. You get both for $50 more and it (usually) makes customs a breeze.

The only thing about GE is how long it can take to get an interview scheduled. At least, at major airports. I scheduled one in January of last year for May.

Yeah. That part sucks. My company brings DHS agents on-site for employee interviews twice a year though, so I got to skip the shittiest part of the process. :smuggo:

Another trick I've heard works well is second tier airports usually have very short waiting lists, so if you're traveling to one of those cities anyway you can book your appointment like 3 hours before your flight leaves and just do the interview on the way.

i wanted to get global entry or whatever for my british friend cuz she's gonna come visit later this year and british citizens can get it now, but when i went to look into it apparently you have to already be in the country (or in Dubai, the only non-american interview location, for... some reason...) so it'd be pointless

CRASHOVERRIDE, aka, Industroyer, is the fourth family of malware publically identified as targeting industrial control systems (ICS). It uses a modular design, with payloads that target several industrial communication protocols and are capable of directly controlling switches and circuit breakers. Additional modules include a data-wiping component and a module capable of causing a denial of service (DoS) to Siemens SIPROTEC devices.

NCCIC/ICS-CERT is in the process of analyzing samples of the CRASHOVERRIDE malware family, including an additional component for credential harvesting that is presumed to be related. As part of this analysis, ICS-CERT has developed a YARA signature to detect components, as well as potential variants of the malicious files ICS-CERT possesses.

Dragos, Inc., ESET, and US-CERT have released open source technical reports for the CRASHOVERRIDE malware family. These reports are available on their respective publisher’s web sites, found at the links below:

Whenever I come back to the US a skull and crossbones pops up on every TSA monitor and I have to sit in their god awful secondary screening room which has taken up to 4 hours only for my turn to come up and those idiots go "oh sorry, yeah you had some poo poo in your file from 10 years ago that flags you for secondary review, your good to go now"

Houston airport is the worst at this by the way, their secondary screening room is the most depressing place I've ever stepped foot in, full of nothing but brown skinned people scared out of their minds because no one tells them what's going on and those rear end hats just sit their on their computers not saying poo poo. You can't use your phone, so if you have family waiting to pick up welp I hope they think to call into immigration to find out where you are or else spend hours wondering what the gently caress happened to you.

Sometimes they use it as a temporary holding cell for days while they wait for the next flight back to your home country leaves in order to kick you out.

No idea if anyone posted this yet, but someone figured out how to go into developer mode on dji products, then used a zero day to traverse through the file system and be able to backup / downgrade firmware. You can disable NFZ lockouts and speed / altitude limits on almost every modern dji drone now (without going through the geo system authorization).

Also it looks like they're violating GPL! hooray!

i dunno about speed that's probably an "upgrade" thing but altitude is more FAA regs than anything

Pilot assist isn't what I'm talking about. Regulators shouldn't rely on software enforcement unless the thing in question is autonomous.

Ciaphas posted:

In most of the US, FAA regs don't start until 1200ft above ground at the lowest and as the "pilot" of the drone, I'm the one responsible for adhering to that limit. There is also no "speed limit" in the air (or on the ground) for that matter.

Basically I'm against software over-ruling driver control.
