the thing about Macron is he is absolutely the gateway to a genuine fascist like Le Pen taking power, because as people's lives grow more miserable under his political project of manufacturing a dystopia subservient to the whims of capital all the while the pundit class laps him up as the new "leader of the free world," people grow disillusioned and detached from the government as an entity that exists in subservience to its citizenry. people disengage from elections, turnout drops, and in that dystopia the cesspool which allows racist hucksterism and fascist discourse to breed begins to grow. the people see government as a tool to maintain the rule of out of touch elites, and a huckster like trump or Le pen can come along and rally enough people with their fascist populism to take power after voter turnout plummets. tl;dr macron succ
