I mean Blizzard is currently charging $20 million for a franchise tag to start up an Overwatch competitive league and they're getting snatched up fairly quickly by actual sports owners.

Did Cameron ever talk back then about what he personally would have done for a third Terminator movie before Rise of the Machines/Salvation/etc. were happening? I mean between Terminator 3/Salvation/Genisys and the Sarah Connor Chronicles what ground is even left to cover? I guess you could do an all future war movie and actually make it not one of the biggest gently caress-ups ever like Salvation was.

Obviously it depends on how much of the total gross the opening weekend is, but animated movies tend to have slightly better legs than others, so this will probably make a small profit, especially if it plays internationally. So just hope that the tracking is aiming too high and that it has terrible word of mouth (like it should)

Doesn't a movie have to make back about double the budget for the studio to call it a success? I thought I read that in this thread, but maybe it's different for animated movies.

Amazing Spider-Man 2 made three quarters of a billion dollars, probably had the movie paid for already through endorsements and was such a failure that Sony ran screaming to Disney/Marvel to be included in the MCU.

I'm not saying i"m jumping out of my chair for more Terminator movies because I haven't seen any of the sequels past T2 because I kinda just don't care about the franchise that much. If he actually makes a new Terminator movie and it's good I'll probably watch it, but I have no emotional investment in the franchise other than "Man, T2 was loving good and the everyone seems to hate everything else with Terminator on the box so I guess I can just skip those"

My understanding was that ASM2 made a pretty solid amount of money, but also burned off literally every remaining bit of goodwill the franchise had left under Sony, meaning their planned spinoffs went from "sure bet" to "Bad loving Idea"

What were all the spinoffs they were planning off of ASM2? The one I remember was an Aunt May which makes me wonder if they would've done old infirm widow Aunt May's Adventures or Aunt May as a Youngster With No Active Superheroes or Villains Aunt May
