Someone should do a remake of Funny Games where they rewind all the way to before the movie was made and kill the director, and then it ends.

Some fun stuff on Netflix; otherwise, it looks like a ho-hum kinda month for additions.

Also I don't get this huge debate about Funny Games. Either version is fine, it's an interesting concept overall, and they're both pretty far down the ladder as far as Haneke's repertoire goes.

Punkin Spunkin

Yeah, I wouldn't present the film as profundity, but I'm a sadist & film lover so Funny Games US is the confluence of "film I can inflict on other people". Gaspar Noé and Lars von Trier can hit similar notes. I wouldn't say it's my favorite film of Haneke or anything.
I've got both versions but prefer the American one myself, got too much love for Michael Pitt

i recently did a marathon of all three and the first one still mostly holds up. the other two, except for a some visuals, are still pretty big stinkers. the live action anime flying flights are even worse than i remember.

That CGI isn't even dated, I remember thinking it looked like poo poo when I saw that in theaters.

E: That said, I did enjoy Reloaded a lot when it came out. The freeway chase was loving great. I kind of soured on it after the third one, though, since a lot of the cliffhanger stuff got resolved unsatisfyingly.

The original is just tighter, it's a well-oiled machine. The sequels are bloated in parts, which is very noticeable because of how perfectly paced the original is.

No. Less is always more, and The Matrix sets up it's mythology and comes to a satisfying conclusion that really doesn't need elaboration.

The sequels decided to tell everything that was unnecessary in a convoluted unsatisfying way. Even when I was much younger, seeing both sequels be given one trailer and two release dates so close to each other, I knew it was a cash grab with diminishing returns.

I agree, it's one of the real strong points of Reloaded. It's so densely packed with exposition, which is normally a bad thing, but the way its delivered makes it feel like you have a chance at some new revelation every time you see it. It's the perfect mix between nonsensical jibberish and potentially game-changing epiphanies.
