I saw Black Sabbath last year in Denver and their set list for that tour did not go into the Dio years or later.

I know very little about Black Sabbath beyond their first two albums, but after reading about thwir discogrophy on Wikipedia, I am dumbfounded at how many records have that band's name on them.

Black Sabbath was always Tony Iommi's band, no matter how much Ozzy Sharon Osborn says otherwise, as long as he's in it, it can be Black Sabbath. Really though you'll strike gold in any of the Ozzy or Dio albums

They've retired from touring, right? Last chance I had to see them was in Calgary a few years ago. I was unemployed and broke so I couldn't make it :(

Their last show was last spring at home in Birmingham. They've said through their official social media outlets that they've disbanded, but Iommi did say that they are open to doing one-off concerts or even another album in the future. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a show next year to celebrate the band's fiftieth anniversary.

Those were dark days for goons like me who listened to prog rock every waking hour in college. There was a time where I painstakingly re-ripped all of my CDs as Vorbis files just so I can get them sweet segues and crossfades.

Agreed on the former, but on the latter... It becomes sooo much harder to strike that gold post-Sabotage. Or to put it in terms of my "play without skipping" approach: I'm a lot more likely to do that with their first 4 albums than anything that followed.

(I've got your back on Dio being a better vocalist though)

I wanna say the first one is that CD-I version where you could buy addons to play either Genesis or TG16 games.

Bottom right is the doomed from the start Commodore 32, bottom middle is the PC-FX (follow up to TG16) and I have no idea what the middle top is.

I'll agree that Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die! aren't as good as their previous efforts, but they're far from terrible, and a lot better than people give them credit for. I think the problem is that everything before them was really tight and solid and had a similar sound where as TE and NSD have a different sound and feel to them.

Top middle is a japanese only hosed up psuedo PC that used outdated architecure compared to the rest of the japanese market when it launched so it died real bad.

It was intended to be installed in your car and do GPS functions and poo poo instead of just be a console.

Edit: look up a picture of a Nuon for a truly hosed console controller. Also for a long time the home to the best version of Tempest or so im told.

Amiga CD 32 actually. :colbert:
My brother has one. Played Bump 'n' Burn on it recently (a MarioKart ripoff). It wasn't very good. Worst thing about it is that it slows down visibly when trying to play it in two player mode, probably something to do with the console rather than the game. Pinball Fantasies was pretty good though.

Looks like something I would have killed for back when I tried emulating N64 games and got frustrated and quit because trying to play N64 games with a controller with four face buttons is a pain in the rear end.

Yeah, i feel like the lesson they took from the SNES was 'Morr Buttan > Better' and as a result you have poo poo like the Jaguar controller (to avpid another Genesis 6button pad situation). More buttons made it easier for devs to skip the control refinement, but its like a lot of them decided UX was for chumps.

That was also the convergence period where CD-ROM and the nascient internet were promising Truly Immersive Interactive Movies and the consoles wanted to compete / be the odd accompaniment doodad.

He used to just get on my nerves because he's obnoxious, and not very funny. The only thing he really brings to the table is that his artwork is pretty decent. I think James could easily find someone else to do art for him who has a lot less baggage.

Short list of things Mike has done:
1. Made a review of Elmo in Grouchland that sucked enoughbon its own. But he further tainted it by doing a bad impression of a female muppet who is supposed to be child aged talking about sucking dicks.
2. Uploaded a dick pic to the AVGN subreddit
3. Drew a bunch of racist comics when he was almost 30 years old.
4. Drew a comic of Mrs. Potato head getting gang raped in an alley.

James needs to cut him loose.

NSD is loving terrible, it's so awful that they just replaced Ozzy on one song and it's really no better or worse than any other song on that album. TE is pretty bad too, but it sounds more coherent, anyway.

My most disappointing Sabbath experience was when Ian Gillian sung for them, both the album(Born Again) and live show was pretty poor. Motörhead opened though, so it wasn't a total loss.

I can go either way on the Dio/Ozzy question, both have their merits. I just wish I'd have bet some serious cash in about 1986 that Ozzy would outlive RJD, I woulda had no trouble finding takers.

We had a laserdisc player back in the early 80s, and I think you generally had to only flip the disc once about halfway through. Mind you, we only had three movies (Star Wars, Airplane! and Raise the Titanic), and I was only allowed to watch one of them, so I could be wrong.
