I like how the interviewer is just realizing that they've called a loving cartoonist to talk about geopolitics. Anyway here's Al Capp to discuss Bill Cosby's ongoing sexual assault scandal.

Arlo and Janis Another gap in the GoComics archive brings us to... Arlo and Janis Classic (October 9, 1995) And so here are a few Garfield Classics to bring us up to date (early October, 1985) I am pleased to report that the Lucky Special Stick was not, in fact, a Guy Gilchrist-esque bit of patronizing glurge, but in fact a new way for Garfield to be a dick for a while. Also: when I started posting Garfield alongside A&J, I was sort of underwhelmed by it, but I've really come around on it. I think it's pretty good!

I love this strip because their relationship is as full of bumps and miscommunications as any, and yet it's as healthy and happy as anything you'd ever hope to experience.

Green Intern posted:Arlo and Janis is the only newspaper comic I know of where the punchline is "they hosed" and I'm not disgusted at it. That's because it reads as a slice-of-life of a healthy marriage, and less like a fetish or creepy wankfest comic. It also fade-to-blacks everything rather than showing Janis get mounted by a ghulking Arlo.

With such a perceptive observation as this from only four lines of dialogue from this new character so far, you can see how Luann fans develop such nuanced understandings of such classic characters as that slutty bitch Tiffany and that criminal rear end in a top hat Les.
So, are they now pretending that this is taking place in the present or did they think that people would not know what a Walkman is?
I can see kids not knowing what a walkman is, since I think Sony only produces the one $10000 luxury MP3 player, but then again funnies aren't really aimed at kids so

ahahahahahaha, this is one of the strips they tried to "modernize" the dialogue for, and it's STILL out of date. I think the original line in the collection I had as a kid was "cassette player." EDIT: Wow a lot of posts popped up while I was typing this.

Wait, these now take place in the present time instead of the early or mid-1980s like the original? We've never seen these kids use computers or any technology from now or the 2000s. MP3 player? Get outta here.
