Yeah I love 7, 6 and 5 were decent enough sequels but not as good :/ but the Scarecrow series doesn't disappoint, Great Zoo of China is amazing as well

Also I wish a studio would make the Nina/Chase books, they're written by a goon (Payndz) and are almost as good as Reilly

Old Town Road to EGOT

I found out about him in like 2004. I don't even remember how I found out about him. It wasn't through the internet. I think I was just browsing Barnes & Noble for some ridiculous poo poo and came across it. Anyway, the first one I read was either Ice Station or Area 7 and I loving loved it. I read every book he had published until then. And I continued to do so for a few years. It's probably been a decade since the last time I read one of his books, but yeah, they're all batshit insane and entertaining as hell to read :allears:

The Shane Schofield series is like if Tom Clancy hosed the Metal Gear Solid series and birthed a crack-addicted baby.

Reilly books were awesome as a teen. They're basically novelizations of Michael Bay's dreams. Tom Clancy with less politicking and more description of people dying via grappling hook.

Exploration is ill-advised.
And some more variation on who the bad guys are, I recall the author saying he wanted to write stories where the villains weren't all the typical USA-antagonistic nationalities, so you get the heroes fighting Americans, British, French... Temple was even all about different branches of the US military fighting over a world-ending superweapon, with South American natives and the researcher protagonist being caught in the crossfire.

Area 7 is an awesome outline that the "Has Fallen" franchise could steal. Just replace Scarecrow with American (not Scottish) Mike and drop in President Asher. Keep all the nukes and the race-targeting virus, that's all very interesting stuff.

The non-scarecrow books are basically Uncharted/Indiana Jones pulp as well. I'm really surprised the guy hasn't been snatched up by a film studio. He's even said he wants to direct one day.

He's a solid airport fiction writer. It's like reading Clancy, except that you don't have to read 700 pages of the author's lovely political/racial/sexual beliefs to get to the gunfights.

I would recommend Andy McDermott for that very same reason. His books are an absolute blast to read.

I believe some of his books were being worked on as films but I'm assuming that went nowhere.

I thought it was kinda interesting, although the special effects looked so fake it really killed the visual aspect of the horror for me. I'm also pretty sure there was some kind of commentary about Serbian culture in there but knowing nothing about the country, if it's there, it sailed over my head.

He's at least an interesting director so this might be worth checking out.

Last time this was in the news it was still a remake of the musical and not the original film, but who knows until they start production.

Rebel Wilson isn't really believable as taking poo poo from anyone. If whoever they cast as the Steve Martin character in this tried to mess with her she would snap them in half.

The show that directly aped it, Family Guy, is an old show now. The show that was spun off that show (not directly, but stylistically) American Dad, is in it's 13th season. It's crazy to think that even it's rip offs are more than a decade old.

The best part of American Dad was when there was one episode a season that had a 10 minute segment in widescreen about random people going One Ring over gold alien poop that wasn't connected to the main story at all. I haven't watched that show in almost a decade so no clue if they are still doing it.

Treasure Hounds will show us the real treasure was inside all along. Also the actual treasure. Yes, it is ripping off Goonies. No, it isn't the first dog movie to do so, Beethoven's Treasure Tail beat them to it. But it is the first talking dog movie that I know about that rips off Goonies.

Yeah when it first came out I thought it was a really uninspired spin-off of Family Guy. One night I randomly caught the episode In Country... Club and really liked it. Which led me to watching a few more episodes and eventually the series. I found that it's really only the first half of the first season that's outright bad.
