Lockback posted:I will grant that Draymond is the type of player that will look better on a better team, but lots of players don't do that. That's a super valuable skill. Draymond is really important to the Warriors, more so the Klay. Green reminds me of Steve Kerr on the 1996 and 1997 Bulls. Yea, he fills an important niche on a superteam effectively but if you gave him the keys to the franchise they aren't winning the title. Green isn't taking down LBJ as the leader of GSW. DeimosRising posted:.388 that year, but .308 this year and .333 and .337 the two years before. Pretty clear which season is the outlier I wouldn't call him bad. He's the perfect breakeven 3P shooter through five years. He has a career 3NP of 1 thus far (A3NP of -4.3). You said he's a threat "to go 6/8 from three any given night" but he's done that only once in his entire career of nearly 500 games. EvanTH posted:he deserved his FMVP LBJ and Curry were so very far above him.

iamsosmrt posted:Do you guys sincerely think of basketball ranking as a legit thing? That old Skeptical Sports piece on Dennis Rodman as the greatest "3rd Man" of all time was pretty eye opening for me in thinking about player quality, roles and team makeup. It's important to note that Rodman's game is becoming more outmoded as we move farther away from the 1980s-1990s. Rodman would not be able to replicate what he did (being nearly the MVP on the 1989 and 1990 Pistons) in today's game. They don't allow that physicality any longer and Rodman's rebounding would be less powerful due to the hyperefficient shooting now being displayed. Spacebump posted:And it's wrong every time. It's a reality that without the billionaires and wanton ruthless capitalism the NBA would not exist as it now does. As the rich get richer (owners/players) that money will be taken away from the poor to a greater degree. Growing disenfranchisement is a mathematical certainty. It seems like many want franchises to be moved into old ramshackle stadiums but the billionaires want to build new shiny, opulent palaces to demonstrate their wealth. Telling a guy that just spent 2-3 billion on a team to move into a deprecated building is a nonstarter these days.

Yea, he fills an important niche on a superteam effectively but if you gave him the keys to the franchise they aren't winning the title. Green isn't taking down LBJ as the leader of GSW. It's called hyperbole Zogo. It's a human affectation, don't worry about it. What I mean is that because of a few memorable performances from 3 he is treated like a more dangerous shooter than he is. 3NP of 1 over five seasons sounds bad. Especially for a guy taking almost 3 a night. Ignoring his rookie season, where he was used very differently and was still adjusting to the league, in the last 4 years, among guys who have played at least 1 full season of games while taking 3 triples a night, he has the 31st lowest % out of 145 players. 26 3NP, comparable to Eric Bledsoe (19 3NP) and Rudy Gay (35 3NP) who have reputations as poor shooters, and he's absolutely being smoked by guys like Robert Covington and Carmelo Anthoy. You can tell me where he lands overall but as high volume three point shooters go he's among the worst. Not miserable, but below average. But I bet almost no one would say he's a worse 3pt shooter than Anthony and Covington when objectively he is.

Spacebump posted:I wonder what the Cavs will get for Kyrie. All the other big trades this summer have resulted in the team losing the all star level player getting robbed. Will the Cavs fall into that pattern or hold firm until they get a nice deal? And so I am wondering why we're not hearing more chatter about a December 15 trade of Jeff Teague for Kyrie, likely with the Timberwolves throwing in some combination of picks and Cole Aldrich, Nemanja Bjelica, or Justin Patton. Now, hear me out... Why it makes sense for the Cavs: If they don't get a starting caliber PG back in the trade, you're looking at either having Lebron running point all year or having Derrick Rose be your starting point guard. The current market for free agent PGs is getting a bit slim, you'd be looking at Patty Mills as the best available option before moving on to either over-the-hill good players (bringing back Deron Williams), journeymen rotation players (Ramon Sessions), or young busts (Ty Lawson). If the goal is to entice Lebron to stay, any trade that doesn't net a starting point guard in return seems like a bad trade. They'd have a good starting point guard and would get back either picks and/or young rotation bigs who could slot in and help immediately and at worst provide a bridge and some component parts if Lebron leaves in the offseason. Why it makes sense for the TImberwolves: Pulling the trigger on any trade for Kyrie that doesn't involve Jeff Teague creates a situation where either Jeff Teague or some player not yet on the roster is a starting wing. Kyrie is specifically looking to leave because he doesn't like sharing ball-handling duties with Lebron and wants to be that guy. I haven't seen a lot of Jeff Teague's game, but from what I've seen, I don't have much hope that he'd be effective off the ball. However, if you swap Teague and Kyrie, everything fits a lot better for both teams. Kyrie would obviously be an upgrade to Teague and they wouldn't be looking for a heavy-minutes wing on a veteran's minimum salary. Now, obviously, this isn't the kind of trade that you'd agree to right now (at least not publicly), but if Cleveland doesn't get the kind of return they're looking for, this is the kind of thing that makes sense as a fallback, particularly if things deteriorate further in Cleveland. So, now's the part where you all tell me why I'm a ridiculous homer and this makes no sense for either team...

It made no sense for the Cavs to trade Irving as soon as they decided to do this after free agency is mostly over and most of the NBA can't be traded by december 15th.
