I was at the NXT show in St. Paul tonight, and Ember wrestled Mandy Rose, and Mandy was surprisingly really good. Other notables: - We got all of Sanity except Nikki Cross, which was lame. Damo lost to Johnny Gargano in the opener, but Johnny made him look like a billion dollars. - Hideo Itami was a lot more popular than Kassius Ohno, and their match wasn't great until the last couple minutes - Maybe the second most over person on the whole show was Ruby Riot who got a big "Welcome Back" chant. She was a fixture on the Minnesota (and the rest of the Midwest) indie scene for a while - The Velveteen Dream plays really well in Prince territory - Nobody cared about poor Roderick Strong in his match against Bobby Roode, but the match itself was excellent - Heavy Machinery was also super over - I had a bunch of young kids in my section and ALL of them were bummed that Asuka wasn't on the show. I had no idea that she was that popular with kids. She was one of the few people who had merch for sale (it was her, Sanity, Bobby Roode and Finn Balor, weirdly enough).

I feel like the immediate future for NXT is going to be Sanity moving up during the next "Superstar Shakeup" to start another faction war, Bobby Roode moving up to a Miz-like position on Smackdown, and Gargano/Champa's feud continuing on 205 Live. I really hope Asuka stick around long enough as champion to go through Kairi Sane before losing the title to Io Shirai in late Fall, but I can't help but shake the feeling that Ember will win the title off her despite being pretty mediocre in NXT.

I don't doubt that she could be called up, but drat Liv Morgan is going to bomb hard on the main roster. She would make sense as someone to pair with Enzo, though, the way Carmella was originally intended.

Sure but Paige was in the same class as Big E, basically still part of the "FCW with a facelift" period of NXT. People only really started to take the WWE women's scene seriously when Charlotte and Natalya had what was widely considered to be the best match on the (pretty strong) second Takeover card

I'd argue that the crossover month with Owens isn't the sort of thing we'll see again, largely because the relationship between NXT and the main roster has changed. Back then NXT was constantly referencing RAW / Smackdown and how NXT guys were champing at the bit to move up, but now that NXT is decidedly its own thing I don't think they'll do much in the way of crossover anymore. Tye had a week or two between his Rumble debut and his last NXT match but that was just a quirk of the taping.

Have Asuka come up undefeated, have her be forced to vacate the title similar to Paige after she wins the RAW or SD Womens Championship. And just because someone like Ember Moon loses doesn't mean their credibility is shot. Odds are, the match will be a back and forth brawl between the two. It would also give the MYC a much needed boost in terms of a "valuable prize". WWE seems to like giving out championship titles for victories, so have the winner of the MYC become the new NXT Women's Champion or something. Arguably Nikki Cross and Ember Moon are just below the level of Asuka, so I don't think the division would be buried at all. Nor would it make the belt worthless.
