I really wish Crafting didn't feel so intimdiating to me. I think it's because the initial entry is like "level everything up!!' and it gives me paralysis. I've got like 4 million gil I'm sitting on specifically either to buy a house or shorten crafting leveling but I can't make myself start.

Much like being a young adult in real life you are never going to own land so you may as well start cooking drugs on a street corner in ul'dah somewhere.

It doesn't seem to be. In any case, it's possible to get over 90% quality on level 70 2* crafts using a macro, with minimum stats and NQ materials, so you don't even need to worry about it.

That's nice to know. Though I'm a bit sad - I really want the 50-60 abilities to be good, they seem like they could be fun. But I guess they'll never really be worth the CP. (Maybe if you blow delineations like crazy, but if there's no point...)

The problem with the 50-60 abilities is they are completely at odds with the entire ethos of crafting. Crafting is about mitigating RNG wherever possible and predictable results. 50-60 specialist abilities are heavily RNG based, so, they're worthless.

All your friends and foes,
they thought they knew ya,
but look who's in your heart now.
too bad you're forced to do them to unlock the 60-70 quests, which gate a bunch of abilities

when I bothered to measure it, it ended up costing me something like 2 million gil to finish the quests for 50-60 for 4 jobs. that was on top of me avoiding some of the more expensive marketboard items to gather materials myself when it was blatantly overpriced.

Judging by the number of people flaming the shisui set a dyable version should be pretty popular.

Yeah, I think that all got datamined when 4.05 hit.

And hey, I actually think the top is really cute! The oversized belt you can take or leave. Especially since I'm fairly sure it doesn't scale based off of character height; over on Midgardsormr, my poor 7 foot tall Elezen was flashing her underwear at everyone until I got fed up and glamoured to the Spring Skirt.

Do people still do Alexander these days? Since I'm on the poetic grind for my anima weapon, I thought I'd work on getting the Gordian Katana by doing the raid for some poetics. Is doing the Savage phase even worth doing with a random group or will it just be a disaster?

A12S is substantially easier for a group these days, since the fight is on a strict timer and 4.X DPS will skip the entire pools/holy bleed phase, which is probably the hardest part of the fight. But everyone in the group will still have to know the timestop mechanic (and probably Inception), since those are still instant kill mechanics.

perhaps a more helpful answer: if you're going in for the first time with a bunch of randoms from PF, it would almost certainly take longer to clear and farm than it would to get a 275+ weapon/tomes from some other source, though the fight itself is always worth seeing.

It's the Shisui striking set which is somehow the least interesting of the barely there outfit variants. At least I'll be able to have it in not blue?

I'm probably not going to go past A4S since that's the place that drops the page to turn in for the Katana. So if the last part of that whole dungeon isn't too bad I imagine the last phase of the first section wouldn't be too much of a problem.

The tank shisui is the one with a small piece of armour on the side

the caster one is the panties and butt cape combo
the others have skirts, if you can call them that

4S was made only slightly harder than normal as soon as it got Echo and was outgeared the first time; at 70 you could probably 4-man it.

running into pentacles doesn't even kill you outright anymore with enough health. The offtank could probably do it by themselves with some dedicated healing
