No, he and Ridley are besties from way back, and he suggested they use Milford in Covenant.

When I'm next in Rotorua in a few weeks I can take some photos of places that Chris is bound to use for his geyser/mud pool planets if you want.

I also live only 1 hour away from 'Middle Earth' and can get you all photos of Chris Roberts "Not the Shire, but looking just like it" as well.

Could probably do water planet with lots of islands if I drove north for a few hours.

Of course not, they are too busy for going on holiday. That was a location scouting trip, and the kids were there to provide scale reference for different sized player characters.

And yes, this was paid for with backer funds, it was strictly a business related trip as evidenced by them booking business class seats for the kids, while they sat in 1st.

Edit: Almost forgot: This is good for Star Citizen and furthermore...

My bad, I left out how in Rotorua you can also go to the http://redwoods.co.nz/ which could cover the forest planets as well.

Chris Roberts family vacation scouting trips are all taken with the backers in mind - One single family scouting trip and two planet types 'imagined/visioned'

Can also do research into Vandual hakas war dances for minimal extra cost (to the backers).

what you don't get is that people aren't identified by this project, as goons and their leader believe them to be... you can't grasp that just because they back and support it, that they can't separate from it

for the most part, backers are people who just wanted to help something get built... if it doesn't pan out quite the way they expected, or at all, they'll just go on with their lives.

it's funny though, you and your leader have spent so much time and effort building the narrative up so negatively that there is only upside from here on out. no matter what.

for that, i thank you.

There seem to be a lot of people who self identify by this video game. Look at all the pictures, reddit posts, brown sea posts, spectrum posts, it having its own loving convention. You must be aware of the stuff the fans supporting the video game make? The theory-crafting and whatnot? If that's not identifying by this project then please, educate me as to what would qualify as such.

I agree with you in that for the most part, the backers are people who contributed money to get a video game. If it doesn't come out, the majority of them will be upset. However, those who spent car money, not car jpeg, but real car, money on it are more invested with this video game than most people. They are a minority of the backers but as the data has shown, they make up a disproportionate amount of both the alleged money spent and posts made about the video game.

I am merely speculating that the amount of promotion and advertising that seems to accompany any article about the video game has decreased recently, which happens to correlate with the news of the video game now being owned by the bank as collateral for what amounts to a payday loan.

And I was sent to this thread from the old griefing thread because it was supposed to be funny as hell. I'm not following Derek or anyone else, merely the laughter friend. And while you're rather serious in your accusations, I've been giggling since I first stumbled upon this trainwreck. If it comes out and is good, great, maybe I'll grief some nerds in space. If not, I get to watch a bunch of nerds lose their poo poo over a video game.

Perhaps you do not understand how goons operate. I recall some article years and years ago about goons in some MMO, it might've been EVE? And when asked about why they played the way they did, the goons said "Everyone else is playing (whatever the game was), we're all playing something awful." That might be an uncomfortable thought for you to engage with, but it's honest to goodness how a lot of us see multiplayer video games. Goons are going to gravitate making themselves laugh, regardless as to what the supposed correct way to play is. According to you, the correct way to play this game is to expect great things and try and squash dissenting opinions. Meanwhile, everyone else here is having a good time making fun of the dumb poo poo and total failures that regularly seep out from the 6 years or however long development of a video game.

I assure you, if there was this much information, hype, weird marketing poo poo, apparent criminality, etc going on with games like Half-life 3 or something else of that magnitude, we'd be laughing our asses off at that too. If you'd bother to do any sort of research into goons, you'd realise that this all happened and continues to happen any sort of leader or leadership. It's a really cool social structure the way it all works, it's kinda flat and almost entirely open and completely organic. I know you desperately want Derek Smart to be our leader, but that has never been the case and never will be. He does write up informative summation blogs every so often, which is nice, and promise things that we can't confirm or deny, but that's about it.

Hope this was helpful to you

Yeah, that's the capitalist pigdog thinking you need to get out of your head for the 21: glideslope is an imperialist plot to make the worker lazy and weak. A true hero flies all the way into the ground and puts the wheels down when the glorious leader has decided it's good for him to do so.

And the F-5 is… simple. If you've flown the L-39, I'd compare it to that, but with a very simplistic radar bolted on. It doesn't really have any systems to speak of: a TACAN for navigation (so… two knobs, three if you include the power knob), two engines to keep track of, simple switches to pick storage pylons, and a radar that gets confused by trees. Oh, and you only really use it to find stuff and (if you really feel like it) to give a range indication for your guns — you can slew your Sidewinders to it, but that's it as far as weapons guidance goes.

It also has a fancy auto-flaps system that you don't need to manage (that's the whole point), and it really likes to Tokyo drift on the weekends. It's fun to fly. Oh and you get to use the “MiG-28” skin, which will make it a must-have module if/when the F-14 comes out. I mean, just look at this beauty (blown tire and all… it happens when you take off at high speed, which you kind of have to if you want to deliver a bunch of GBUs. Getting it repaired might not necessarily improve your situation ).

Obviously SC is of a scale and development caliber that people are going to be blown the gently caress away. Maybe not in 3.0, but certainly by 4.0 if not sooner. When 3.0 is actually playable it will begin.

This is also exciting because this title could single handedly prompt the mainstream industry to change their development ways. EA, Ubi, Etc. are going to see the long term revenue and playerbase this game generates, and have no other option but to do something similar. Instead of just making COD 42, which is almost identical to COD 41, we'll see something actually groundbreaking.

The reality is, these AAA development companies won't be able to compete with games like SC if they keep simply recycling the same game with new art assets every year. CIG to me feels like Tesla in the car market. They are signaling a change in how things are done. Some companies are taking serious notice and are pouring resources into autonomous driving and electric vehicles (Audi, VW, BMW, Ford) while others don't seem concerned (KIA, Suzuki, etc.).

Much like Tesla, CIG is a new player in a big market brought about by investors and a unified vision. We even have our own Elon Musk directing the entire thing, giving most backers confidence in the long term outcome.

Musk is an amateur compared to Crobberts. First of all, he thought too small, only sold jpgs of non-existing cars instead of reaching for the stars and selling jpgs of spaceships. And secondly, 1000$ as a downpayment for a non existing car? Bitch please, Roberts showed us how to do it, no 5k$ no dice. But worst of all? Musk the idiot then proceeded to actually build those cars instead of just taking 1st class trips around the world paid for by his backers. What a chump.

Basic causation, i.e., CIG is bad and the game doesn't exist after all these years and that's why goons laugh, escapes them.

But that's probably a mental defense. Goons can't be right because that means the game is bad and isn't coming out, so that would be unthinkable. It's far easier to spin a fantastical tale of jealousy, hatred, shadowy power brokers, obsessive plotting by people who can't quit. If you believe that Crobbers is right and the game is going to be a miracle of programming then every statement to the contrary is wrong and so the reasons those fudding fud goonies give are obviously lies; if the project is actually successful, and in their hearts of hearts they know this, then claims that it's a flailing failure are lies. Why would someone lie about a project that's gonna break all sorts of records? Clearly jealousy!

Anything else, they can clap their hands to their ears and go LALALALA.
