There's a version of DCSS you can put on an iOS device if you can compile it yourself on a mac but there's nothing on the store because 'The DCSS license isn't compatible with the app store'??

Phone version of neo scavenger is out. The free version of which doesnt let you save and (unless im crazy) locks out certain crafting recipes. I've not had any problems with it but some of the reviews are complaining about crashes.

I'm still pretty new at Qud and I'm on my first character who's starting to explore the ruins. Multiple arms are cool. I was down in some ruins and a saw-bot cut off my face. I regenerate so fast I wasn't really in danger of dying. My face looked so sad lying there on the ground and I didn't want it to go to waste so I picked it up and ate it.

Sunless Sea has wonderful writing and setting but its core gameplay is pretty boring and with permadeath it's incredibly tedious with no interesting decisions so it makes a lovely roguelike. I enjoyed cheating all my stats and everything high and just visting every location and reading all the story, there's quite a lot of it and it's all fascinating.

This is more or less my experience with it--the gameplay isn't super-interesting and definitely isn't balanced, you want to explore the cool setting but the game works extremely hard to keep you from doing so. I'm glad to see Fallen London continuing to be successful though, even if I don't want to keep playing it.

I'm enjoying A House of Many Doors more than Sunless Sea, tbh. At least the gameplay doesn't stand in the way of the stories - except for the way too many fetch quests that I can't be bothered to care about.

The paradox of Dead Cells is that taking the harder branches on the way up actually makes the final stretch of the game easier because the harder branches tend to have more loot/stat upgrades. Something tells me that's going to change as more content gets added, though. I finally got to try Forgotten Sepulchre tonight. The darkness mechanic isn't very punishing, but for people who tend to flip out when the clock is grinding down on them regardless, I can see how it'd be rough. I think it's actually a good bit easier than Fjord from a combat difficulty standpoint! Also doesn't have Fjord's exasperating high path/low path platforming headache.

I picked up Dungeonmans and I'm super mixed on it. I like the writing and the meta-progression feels insanely strong(it took roughly 5 minutes for my second character to overpower my first one at his time of death), but the skill trees feel really weird and disjointed and I'm not really sure how I should be building a character. It also makes me feel a little bit like a newbie playing ToME for the first time because I lost my first character in an area where I was trivially one shotting all of the trash with no effort and then the area champion did 125% of my life with his first attack.

Champs (and their tougher, nastier older brothers) are to be respected in dmans. A lot of them get special abilities, on top of the stat buffs. Be careful around them, Use Your Consumables, or run away in proper roguelike fashion. As for class building, just pick a few skill lines and max those out, works for almost any build. Take 1 armor line, 1 weapon line +/- bow/shield depending on if you're doing polearms/1h or 2h weapons, and then whatever skill lines look appealing. There really aren't many duds left at this point, almost every skill line has been polished to be effective through the endgame. Obviously some combinations are easier than others, hit up the dmans Discord if you want to talk more specifics.
