I would have thought a giant person traversing the world in a few strides would break immersion more than that :v:

I feel like it worked better back in the sprite days but that may be a function of my own age.

Eh, some sacrifices have to be made to not make it a slog :v: I'd rather have this abstraction than just removing the travel altogether.

This might be true too, but I haven't played a lot of modern 3D JRPGs so I can't really say how I feel about those. I liked it in the Bravely games, but with the proportions of the characters and art style it's basically the same as sprites anyway :shobon:

I'm on camp "Use shortcut to travel in persona 4" over moving manually. I do not have the "tolerance" to repeat an action 50000 times for the exact same, simple result of moving to a spot.

i mean half of them are named after cardinal directions so you could probably make a few guesses

I didn't have much of an issue with that in Berseria, though in playing FF12 again I'm having that problem (Especially when I can't just teleport to an area for a Hunt or whatever) even though the the presentation is actually pretty similar to Berseria's.

Okay, so not only is Last Recode an impressive remaster collection it also is adding a fourth volume.

I mean, I'm sure it's not going to be as long as the other three, but the fact that they're adding more story is cool.

Finally got around to playing Nier Automata and I can't even begin to fathom what kind of trip it's gonna take me on this time after the original.

I was unreasonably happy to see Emil has the same english VA :allears:. Though I am nothing but confused as to why Popola and Devola are hanging around the Resistance Camp.

Continue to play the game, even after you've beaten the final boss. The endings go in cycles and you've got to load your clear data to keep things rolling.

Great choice. Nier Automata was spectacular. Keep us updated.

Both Dark Id's LP thread and the Nier Automata thread are relatively safe if you want a place to read. Though of course don't go to the end of the LP yet. And the Nier Automata is filled 95% with black bars so it could be dangerous figuring out where to scroll your mouse. But it's safe to ask questions if you ever have any.

All world maps are big empty nothing you have to traverse and I dunno why people seem to like them. Chrono Triggers was okay because you didn't get random encounters so you could just move where you liked I guess.

I've been replaying bof3 and I really like how it does world map encounters, an exclamation pops over your head and you can go in if you want or not.

that's the same system wild arms 2 and 3 use, it's pretty much the best way to handle random encounters i think

Nah, wild arms does that per encounter. The thing he's talking about is that you can randomly decide to go to a field from the world map with random encounters on it.

If that isn't the fish ending then tsk tsk, that's the first one you should get.

Best non-main ending is Y, because eh, they all had it coming anyway. And by "they all" I mean literally all life on Earth, apparently. That one you can't get until basically postgame, so don't mouse over if you don't want it spoiled.

I don't know the fish ending, but Ending T is [T]otal System Failure. ie; Pulling your own OS chip out.

Some thoughts on Route B;

I swear it was only one Goliath-class in the city in Route A.

Why is Nines recognising the tank in the desert? Why is there now a Tank in the desert as well as the amusement park? :ohdear:.

My current wild-guesswork theory is, unlike the original Nier, these Routes aren't cyclical with variations, but sequential somehow.

Just to keep myself from being accidentally spoiled by replies remarking on stuff ahead of where I am, I'm currently just heading into The Forest Kingdom.

Lets Fuck Bro

Route b is really just route a except with a few extra cutscenes and the ability to hack stuff. Its not as impactful as route b in the original nier, that's where they introduced that new character right? and changed the whole story? Route c gets a lot more interesting. I would just rush to it if you dont have any sidequests you're working on. Its definitely not worth re-exploring the whole world and talking to all the npcs again on B like I did looking for differences or new dialogues. Don't skip cutscenes, though, even if you have seen them before.

You're missing a sidequest if you don't know the fish ending! But I think you have to do all the awful Jackass quests first and so on. They're way less awful if you aren't level fifteen or whenever they first open up.

I've actually gotten an email from her talking about trying a fish (I haven't done any sidequests with her), but I can't find wherever she is in the world. She's not at the Desert Camp, so I've no idea where else she might be.

I genuinely thought when the title showed up there that it would be the last shot in the entire game. In a way, it would be really fitting. Opening Credits? That's what that was supposed to be?
