Jews fleeing the Holocaust are not in any way comparable to North Africans, who don't flee genocide but want to enjoy the social welfare systems of Northern Europe.

*and to be honest, is Loras that great in the show? honestly he tends to get clowned on like early season Worf.

Loras led the van at Blackwater Bay and won the only legitimate tourney shown on the show - so yeah he was an able fighter.

More importantly though, if Olenna knew she did not have good fighters, shouldn't they have made a plan to get the gold to safety or have given her some officers from Dorne to command her troops?

Well, technically there were two tourneys shown on the show, both featured Loras, one was won by Sandor Clegane after Loras forfeited and the other was won by Brienne after she annihilated Loras.

I'll certainly grant that even "first runner up knight" is pretty impressive and indicative of a good fighter, but every single footman in the Tyrell army is necessarily Loras, nor does it mean they have super competent and inspiring leadership.

If an army is depicted marching without having much problems with a supply chain/logistics/feeding the horses/whatever the gently caress, it doesn't mean "supplies don't matter for them", it means that in the story, they didn't have any problems with the supply. You may as well be mad in a movie if one character, for plot reasons, has their car break down, but another character is seen driving successfully without going to a garage for an oil change/tire rotation/etc. "Why doesn't car maintenance matter for that character????"

If the Lannister army shows up in front of Winterfell next episode I can surmise a few months have passed and they didn't experience any problems getting there but that doesn't make it a good way to tell a story. Giving viewers some idea of timeframes and insight into what's going on is not that hard. Cut a minute off the hammy torture porn and have Jaime and Cersei talk about tracking the unsullied fleet and moving the Lannister army. "Our scouts report they will land at Casterly Rock in 5 days. Our forces are almost in position and I'm now leaving to join them." It would make it a lot less jarring when Jaime goes from sister loving in KL to storming Highgarden next time we see him. We're not asking for a series of episodes devoted to logistics and supply meticulously planned out on a map drawn to scale.

They had Cersei pretty much say "We can pay you back in about two weeks", and showed Lannister soldiers loading up wagons full of gold in Highgarden.

I mean, yeah, it could be more clear, but it also isn't "teleporting armies" if you're paying attention. If you want to argue that two weeks is unrealistically fast (I don't really care about logistics in that kind of detail) that's fine

Fair point about supplies not being a problem every time But it is more the general, Cersei et al have had 0 problems logistical or otherwise. Based on the distances and the existence of Ravens, you would have thought Dany would have at least been able to react to the Lanisters plan of abandoning CR. If anyone on the show should be accused of magic teleport powers to get where they are needed to turn a battle around it should be the person with flying Dragons. How many Lannister troops would she have had to roast in order to turn the siege of Highgarden around?

Also on the talk of Tarly abandoning Highgarden, wouldn't it make sense for Oleana to have brought with her/included in planning her battle general Tarly. As has been pointed out House Tyrell is basically eradicated at this point, you would think she would have found a successor for her post. Possibly Tarly and if not someone capable of commanding troops and defending a castle.

It's drat weird there isn't some second cousin from a cadet branch she's grooming to take over since she's like a hundred and all the main heirs exploded, but I am willing to accept that's for narrative reasons of not wanting to introduce another character however minor in the home stretch.

But yeah the whole sacking of Highgarden was handled too patly.

If they had them, they'd probably already be out. All they got was next ep's script outline. They leaked a couple eps of shows no one watches they nabbed in the hack tho.

I'm wondering if the leaked synopsis of all the main players getting together and forming a loose alliance to fight the Others happens in the books, because that's actually a really interesting and unexpected way to take the main narrative.

Olive drab colour ensures the genocider will remain hidden from his prey until it's too late for them to do anything.

I also wouldn't assume their whole army is a made up entirely of goons wearing pots on their heads like Mace though. The Tyrells and Redwynes(which Olenna was originally) are both incredibly wealthy families who have been noble houses of the Reach for a long time so I think it's a safe assumption that they have the means to hire a capable Master-at-Arms who likely trained Loras, and the other guards who garrison Highgarden.

Highgarden is the high seat of the Reach, and just like Casterly Rock or Winterfell, or any other castle of it's stature should lend it's defenders a significant enough advantage that Jamie shouldn't just be able to walk in and take it in an afternoon.

Also, the lazy excuse that they've never been good at fighting is also weak unless we're also meant to assume that the historical members of these houses didn't exist like Ryam Redwyne and Leo "Longthorn" Tyrell.

Why are they turtling up in castles when an undead army can just sit in your fields and prevent you from growing food forever? Is Gillys baby the price that was promised?
