I love the old, angry rear end in a top hat version of Spider-Man. He would constantly verbally abuse his friends while at the same time lamenting his loneliness. My favorite issues are of him 1) Crashing Johnny Storm's (Human Torch) party and starting to fight him for no other reason than jealousy. 2) Breaking into the HQ of the Fantastic Four, start fighting them, then demanding to join the team so he could have a stable salary. Little does he know FF is non-profit, so they don't have salaries!

The thing I loved about 80s crime movies is that the gangs were more racially integrated and diverse than the neighborhoods they preyed upon. I really don't see how a vigilante movie with the main guy being portrayed as being righteous works at all unless you go for pure schlock.
