30K is popular, and one faction is exactly what that is.

I really hope that the new Adeptus Titanicus game (or whatever they are calling Epic 3) is good. It is a little weird that it is just Titans and not just straight up Epic, but it is a step in the right direction.
It's easier to start small and ramp up if demand is there. It would be dumb of GW to put out a relaunch of Epic and have 95% of the people out there say "Oooh - I could never paint anything that small..." like they did when Epic was originally in production.

Specialist Games are a niche of a niche, and it makes zero economic sense for GW to go all out on one of those games.

Yep. The entire HH was created to justify the fact that GW only had enough money allocated to the project to cover the design of one force.

And sadly the new AT is a different scale so my original '88 box can't just be swapped in.

The Heresy era is a lot more fleshed out today than it was when AT launched, and the newer titans look amazing compared to the originals. (Although beetle-carapace Warlords will always have a place in my heart.) So it's totally possible that the new game can thrive on Imperial Civil War.

I think most of my fear is rooted in the Warmaster problem, where everybody waited for their faction to trickle out, and nobody played by the time it did.

Well regardless I have one box of the old Eldar with the Falcons that look more like Wave Serpensts, so they're as old as can be.

Those old Falcons are really cool models. I saw an upscaled armourcast one on eBay the other day and realized that the mid 90s is basically my peak warham.

Same. It's the best combination of well painted promos, highly detailed sculpts that aren't overdone, and battlefield practicality.

That's how HH started. But the Legions are different now, especially Spess Woofs and 1K Sons, and Blackshields are also a think (that nobody plays, I guess). Mechanicus is a popular faction, I guess, and Solar Auxilia... are there. Great sculpts, tho.

Say what you will about Mantic's addiction to Kickstarters but at least they get multiple factions released at the same time.

My local manager wanted to set up a Friday night league, but he got word that it's not allowed in store.

Apparently there's some dumb policy laid down from head-office that stores aren't allowed to run leagues. We can run one day events or play exhibition games but no leagues.

Yeah I don't get it either.

No, he also specifically said we aren't allowed to play it in store. Not even pick up games.

How weird! I mean, that's fine. I bought it to play with friends, it just seemed bizarre that I cant use a GW product in a GW store.

Yeah like... that's weird. Ultimately it's down to the manager but every regional manager I know would smack him for not allowing a currently supported game to be played in store.

Agreed.

On that note, I wish the Skaven throwers had used the arm canon model from the PC version of BB2. My friend that played Skaven in our first league was disappointed he couldn't accurately model Toss-Toss and Lob-Lob.

You may want to eBay some extra models, especially for the humans. The starter isn't fully balanced out

FW should be doing booster packs, but I think they've only released Goblin and Skaven ones so far.

Safety Factor

Grimey Drawer
The starting teams are not optimal* :byodood:, but are definitely playable. FW has made a couple of booster packs to expand the skaven and goblin teams and should be releasing a human one soon eventually. For example, the plastic human team only comes with 2/4 blitzers and really needs the other two to compete. Skaven are missing a couple of gutter runners, but the FW booster pack has them covered. None of the plastic starter sets include big guys so if you want an ogre, troll, etc. you need to pick that up separately.

*Except dwarfs. The starter set has basically their best starting line-up possible and all of their positionals are included. They're only missing the deathroller which isn't really needed, but looks loving awesome and is available from Forge World. Unfortunately, playing dwarfs in Blood Bowl instantly makes you history's greatest monster.

Eh. I'm pretty content with my current logo.
Dwarves truly are the worst.

Played a game with my orks against some Skaven today. He had 300,000 in inducements and took a re-roll and Hakflem Skuttlespike. I got greedy in the first half and blitzed my safety, allowing him to drop Skuttlespike just out of reach and fling him the ball, cementing my loss. Always keep your safety (or two) back when playing Skaven.

The good news is that now I have a MA 7 ork blitzer. So that's cool.

If there's anything more important than my ego around, I want it caught and shot now.
Personally I think Big Guys are super gimmicky and awkward in Blood Bowl so not having one is no big deal at all

but you're gonna want those extra blitzers or whatever. For now you're stuck buying another human team box, but at least you don't have to buy another starter box. Hopefully they'll get human boosters out soon yeah.

I think my last game against dorfs went 0-2 or 0-1. Deffo could have gotten more points had my goblin not failed two go-for-its (one of them due to blizzard) in a row.

On the flip side, I blackmailed one of his players to taking out his ball carrier, who got badly hurt. Said treasonous player gained SPP for the take out, scored a touch down and got either the MVP or level up, or both.
