In typical fashion, since I complained so much about it, the game gave me five primals this weekend since that last post. One was useful and is identical to the only useful one I got last season, too.

Too be fair it's not like Jay Wilson has show professionalism and courtesy using social media in the past, but yeah tweeting cuss words at dude 2-3 after he left the team and almost all his damage was undone seems weird.

Like we'll obviously never get a patch that makes the campaign not a shameless rehash of Diablo 2's story but with comically inept Disney villains and no resolution, but other than that the game is in a great place right now, it's bigger than Diablo 2 ever could have hoped to be even in it's heyday.

And I'm not coming down on you like the previous posters, I def lolled because gently caress Jay Wilson (also part of the team that ruined WoW) but yeah let's not derail into social media etiquette.

I have to agree with all the old neckbeards that the art styling of this is better. Much more reminiscent of D2 than what we got. Resolution would've been better on release.

To the original team's credit, I didn't like the art style at first either, but it grew on me and has held up really well because of the styling. Maybe tone down the particle porn though.

I'm just putting my 2 cents in. I hadn't played the game in a good few years, possibly when the crusader came out, I can't remember. After a really terrible (and I mean TERRIBLE) year I decided to play the Necro, I didn't even know it was coming out. I have to say this is now my favourite class, I'm bloody loving this class:

Bone Storm Build is alot of fun, especially when everything is dying around you.
Skeletal Mage Build is alot of fun until around GR 60. It's a bit of a Glass Cannon, but die once and you are screwed!
Tragoul Build can eat my rear end, seriously. gently caress YOU TRAGOUL
Pestilence Build, Meh, Meh, Meh.

The last couple of weeks, since season 11 came out I have played more than ever. Need to complete some conquests to move forward.

Overall, glad to see this class. I know I'm late to the opinion party.
Are there any AUS players keen for GR60+ rifting? Need team play methinks, my friends play once a week if that and I need to progress.

It's inconsistent at best. There are too many tilesets that are basically one color + a lovely fog effect, and waaay too many enemies that just look like a kludge of polygons from most angles compared to Diablo 2's doofy but instantly readable monsters.

The bosses look pretty good -- Skeleton King is fantastic, Ghom is gross, Azmodan and Belial make visual sense even if they're kind of samey, and I actually like Femme Diablo.

But look at, like, an Exorcist in actual gameplay and it's impossible to tell what it's even supposed to be.

The colors I find can be a huge problem in the rift. It really sucks to get a murky blue tileset, and then fight a bunch of abominations who explode into a murky blue AOE. And what's that, next map is a foggy orange tileset? And there's a bunch of foggy orange ghosts around zapping all my HP? Thanks game.

This might be partly a mechanical thing (monsters just die too fast for you to even notice) but I also miss monsters having more distinct behavior patterns and personalities.

Tainted would fight you at melee range till their health got low, then they'd kite and fire electric orbs. Gloams were motherfuckers. Regurgitators would run after other monsters' corpses instead of going for the player, eat them, and then barf half-digested monster goop projectiles at you. Act V had Overseers who would turn their minions into suicide bomber versions. They kept the fart cloud zombies from Act II, but in Diablo 3 it's hard to tell which enemies are actually going to do that, while in D2 you're never in doubt.

Honestly you kill poo poo way too fast in this game and it ramps up into insane rocket tag at the high end. I've really soured on it now that I've done some seasonal stuff and gotten to Torment XIII/ GR50 or so. I also despise sets and set bonuses that radically change the way your character plays because they're just idiotically huge power boosts.

Much lower power curve/mob density and overall TTK would be my preferences. Jusr doing constant speedruns and blowing up everything faster than you can even see it just doesn't feel satisfying at all.

I think I need to stick to older, jankier ARPGs because all the modern ones are way to focused on streamlining speed. :(

also temp minions are the loving worst and I can't do a proper skellemancer build since my mages just loving die every few seconds.

Wait until you hit GR 70+. monster health starts scaling like you wouldn't believe.

There are also more than a few items that lengthen the skeleton mage summons or dump more than one at a time when you get them out. skellemancer play is basically filling your essence and dumping it into mages, rinse and repeat as fast as you can.

If they ever get around to Diablo 4, I hope they just dump the current storyline since it's obviously going nowhere, and introduce some time traveling shenanigans somehow.

That way we could see some of the cool poo poo that was talked about back in thew Diablo 1 & 2 manuals, like the Sin Wars where the Lesser Evils overthrow the Prime Evils.

Bonus points if we get a teenaged Deckard Cain fresh from Horadrim college as a wingman.

So I ran into a wall at GR 87. This is my first time pushing into this range. Should my primary focus be on grinding bounties to reroll pieces or should I be grinding gems for augmenting?

Get Traveler's pledge and compass rose with CHC and CHD, don't use Unity, cube Krysbin's or Circle, which isn't your best ring. Level up your Trapped gem, rank 10 is WAY too low for GR87. Mine is rank 85 and does 40.5% more damage, it's noticeable. Get Mage damage in the head as well, not just the feet. Also, I prefer Nemesis bracers so I can blow up elites to gain more time.

This is the build I use, successfully got to GR93 with it, https://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/necromancer#akdcSf!edfg!aZYYaa

You have some freedom Simulacrum, either use a different rune or spell entirely. Your current build can work, but with Nemesis bracers, your 2min CDs won't be up often enough, and Rathma's set isn't meant to be a big burst build on champ/elites. You're supposed to kill everyone on your screen as fast as possible and chant your Command Skeleton spell so you don't have to waste essence on casting it.

I use the Enchantress follower for extra CC, but use Templar for the CC and heals. Ess of Johan and Occulus ring are must haves, and try to cast mages in an Occulus buff if it's safe (existing mages don't get the buff if you stand in it, you have to cast mage while already in the ring). Thunderfury for templar is a must as well as Tormentor for the Enchantress.

https://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Catfish-1833/hero/78374777

I've got pretty decent rolls (4/4 of the desired attributes in every slot except jewelry, which are 3/4, plus the shoulders have all res instead of vit or something minor like that) and an okay Ancient weapon; both my Demon Hunter builds were basically rolling T13 effortlessly by this point.

I used this build for the necromancer:

http://www.diablofans.com/builds/93858-smooth-singularity-gr80-speed-farming

It hits monsters in the face and rear end so hard that it's in its own toughness. However, with a poor setup you are incredibly squishy. Certain mobs like ghosts that do spooky damage will give you a rough time. But it's mostly standing behind your skeletal mages and letting them do all the work. Bone armor should not be stacked and should only be used to stun to proc Krisbins.

Also I dunno why it says "Speed" in the video. You move incredibly slow for the build.

Our gear's not that much different aside from the weapon (here's mine), so I think it may just be being bad? What's the issue, not killing fast enough or getting deleted? If it's the latter, be more aggressive with teleporting away/in circles with your current pack of targets, always trying to keep them on the tip of the archon beam. If it's the former, you're probably not maximizing your double stack/4-TR time, or just getting lovely Paralysis procs. :v:

E: Also don't forget to trick your follower out; Oculus Ring circles and CC from either the Enchantress or Templar will help a shitload.

A little of both, although survivability is probably more of a problem than not killing fast enough. Is there any way to affect Paralysis procs or is it just a flat 15% from the passive no matter what?

This could be part of it; my good Templar relics are all on my other character, and I haven't farmed up any of it for my Wizard's follower except for a spare Ess of Johan I had lying around.

Just do not give up if you die instantly. It does have a dancing playstyle that you will need to get used to. The main thing is that the rampup is kidna slow so don't be afraid to pop singularity right away to clear a big wave of mobs right away. Save LotD for other elite champs and just rotate your cooldowns.

If mobs get too close you can pop the Bone Armor in hopes your skeleton mages will knock them out instantly.

Diablo 1's story is so pure on its face that it's brilliant. A demon opens up a portal to hell underneath an ancient cathedral, and you have to kill him. You could never get away with telling a story that simple in 2017.

Ditch the chest and run the full set. Having both necro rings is an insane upgrade to that build. I could maybe - MAYBE - see blowing out the compass rose/traveler's pledge combo if you're just in love with the chest but that's really useful also.

You really need both rings, though.

Vitality is good where you can get it but like all classes you shouldn't be going out of your way to stack more of it in lieu of pieces that can roll DPS slots instead. Without even looking at your gear I can already tell at ~750k HP you probably have Vit rolled on some pieces where DPS rolls would help more.

The only consideration you might want to make is if you're running Trag's with the ring that gives you more damage reduction per point of missing life because you can amass a pretty beastly health pool with that set.
