I think the problem is that since he's a fat white drunkard in Wisconsin, Mike doesn't have the vocabulary, or the class consciousness, or the whatever, to properly articulate the criticism. The fact that there is now an Asian female X-Wing pilot isn't going to be inspiring to the 14 year old Vietnamese girls Disney pays $1.17 an hour to make t-shirts featuring that character. safe, focus-grouped "representation" in hundred million dollar movies makes some people feel good, but it doesn't actually do anything about systemic racial inequalities in America or the world.

Plinkett reviews get a disproportionate amount of outrage, combining that with the movie that people accuse you of being sexist if you will not watch it and then copy their opinions on it is going to be Attention getting Responses will probably be ear ringing.
