if i had my guess the thought of if the cleat work being a big issue never crossed the minds of the austin people. not disparaging but from what i heard in our tx organizing workshop they didnt seem particularly radicalized. that said, the way it was dodged in his bio or whatever is pretty shady. i dont think hes an infiltrator or anything but its a colossally dumb move and now its being exploited from wherever to subvert the work people did this weekend. i still think that linked in profile is fake until he admits to it and that's what has me wondering

at the last minute, after being canvassed by fetonte's son and various other whips, i switched my vote in slot 16 to vote for fetonte. had i known about his work with cleat i definitely would not have. i regret that i didn't do my due diligence by taking the time to research him before i switched my vote. i'm sorry. either Danny's gotta resign ASAP or we'll hafta start the process to remove him

ive never lived in dallas but ive lived in houston, san antonio, austin and the hill country and austin is by far the best place in tx to live in and its not even close. and for some reason the only people i ever meet with an actual grudge against austin (aside for conservative suburban chuds mad about liberals) are from dfw.

Austin lost a lot of its luster when I met some relatives of mine from the area that revealed they were heavy tea partiers. Once you see one, you start seeing more and pretty quickly I realized Austin was just about as racist and backwards as my hometown. They try to hide it, but it's there just as much as anywhere else. I don't think anyone that was there would give you flak for it, they really were going hard. At my table they came by multiple times in the last hour before voting, and with how mentally drained everyone was from the previous votes in the day, I think due diligence goes out the door in practice especially since no one would expect "state workers" to mean police. He had a good list of people endorsing him, and even people who spoke with him at length were surprised by this.

The problem is that police unions are generally scumbag institutions. I looked up the director of the union he worked for and one of the first news stories is him defending a cop fired for shooting an unarmed black man and vowing to fight it in court. In fact their website sells them on this sort of practice, in contrast to earlier police union efforts that focused on issues of contract negotiation.

the kind of people you interact with in your city are more similar to people in a similar city on the other side of the country than the other people in your state, like somebody in rural california has more in common with someone from wyoming than someone from oklahoma city has w. someone from wyoming but even more than that a 50 year old white dude from california probably has more in comming with a 50 year old white dude from texas than he does from some liberal
