Does anyone have tips for Tassadar? I just bought him on a whim and he seems fun in A.I., but I got slammed in QM.

He seems good with Illidan and I paired nicely with an Uther as well.

Tassadar is my favorite hero bar none, I think he's my most played, my best, my friends are always excited to see me pick him. If I play a game on him and die a single time or don't get MVP I feel like I usually hosed up somewhere. I usually play QM and according to Hotslogs I have a Master QM MRR with a 55% WR with Tassadar, my average score is 3-17-1. Here's how I usually play him:

1: Templar's Will is by far the best talent no matter what. It gives him much more damage output and a permanent mana engine. When laning you want to be just outside of range of your opponent and storming waves while auto-attacking anyone in your range as safely as possible as often as possible to stack up this talent. If you are in a big pile up lane sometimes you can stack it absurdly fast and then you hit a really fast power spike and people don't expect it.

4: Khala's Embrace (Green Shield - Lifesteal): I get this 90% of the time unless my team is severely lacking heroes that auto attack to the point that it doesn't make sense (we have like 2 tanks and a mage and a support or something) and then I get the Khala's Celerity (Blue - Move Speed) one. You can put this on your self and basically 1v1 any hero at level 4 with Templar's Will/Khala's Embrace. You can bait people into fighting you and just trash them, and if for some reason you lose you just hit E really fast and cut back to the fountain and try again. I win a lot of early solo duels with this talent combination especially against really hyper aggressive Malthael, Butcher, and Illidan players. Tassadar puts those kind of characters in a trash bin.

---

7-End: Multiple Paths (summary of skills and ideas)
1) Oracle / Archon / Oracle / Oracle / Prismatic Link -- This is a really strong build. Makes your cooldowns cycle fast, makes your auto attacks really strong, makes your team fight presence when you pop Archon and Oracle an absolute terror, you basically win late game team fights solo if you get off a few seconds of full rotation damage.

2) Psi Storm / Force Wall / Nullification / Armor Reduction Psi Storm / Shield Battery -- This is a really good team fighting build that is great against a lot of melee assassins and/or high aoe damage and is more support focused. You wall to disrupt enemy initiation and escape, you nullify their main melee damage dealer on arrival, you spray armor reduction and slow over their main team fight area, and you pop an AOE Shield when your team engages or eats their first big AOE ultimate.

If your team has a second support or is very durable, the first build is usually better because you can be a lot more of a high threat team fighter and can control vision and targets very effectively.

If you are the only support on your team and you are worried about a lot of high priority threats (especially ones that will disrupt you if you try to go hard with the Archon build) then the second build is usually better because you can directly manipulate team fights with single and multi-target damage mitigation, fight control, and area denial.

----

The talents I didn't mention at any point I don't think are ever worth picking. I've tried them all. None of them perform as good singularly or collectively as one of these two paths or a hybrid adaptation of the two based on situational analysis.

I've played my Tassadar in a few goon groups and I don't think I died in any of those games either. I would take my Tassadar up against anything confidently. If you wanna play or have any other questions let me know.

It is really, really unintuitive to use. You have to click and drag, and THEN use your Q. I found it much easier to do his combo after setting his Q to be quickcast so that you automatically target where you dragged to.

Having gotten 40 heroes to level 5 Alarak is one of the three I can't stand playing (the others are Auriel and Abathur... haven't done Arthas yet but the letter A seems cursed).

Telekinesis is obviously an extremely powerful ability, it's just very, very hard to QM with no mobility.

His W really feels like one of those abilities that benefits from the On Release quickcast setting. Aim and hold the button for a split second, and give your mouse a flick in the desired direction at the same time.

Of course I'm poo poo at landing it all the same so it's probably wise not to listen to me, as always. :v:

Alt + W is a self cast that propels you forward and can be used as an engage or escape. Alarak isn't going to dance around, but he doesn't have "no mobility".

Auriel is terrible to QM with because if you don't have a battery you may as well afk.

Any arguments for force wall upgrade at 20? I don't play tassadar but I've definitely been walled to death at 20 before and it looked pretty fun for him.

It's good it's just not as good as the two utility picks (in my opinion).

Force Wall can last 2 seconds and is already on an 8 second cooldown. The upgrade makes it 3 second cooldown and realistically you don't need to re-wall every 3 seconds to have the impact you need. One wall usually wins or loses a fight if it's a good one. A second wall usually decisively closes out a fight if you won the first part of the skirmish.

I'd rather have the AOE Shield or the chain attack then have the Wall again 5 seconds earlier. The pacing of fights you usually don't need the extra wall that fast or the extra length.

Yeah I got him to level 20 in a game recently, I had been grabbing all the upgrades to the basic including Force Wall, and grabbed the chain and I went from whatever on my numbers to the highest siege and hero damage as I just tore through everything all of a sudden.

The difference between on-release and full Quickcast is about a tenth to a quarter of a second if you release the key as soon as you press it. It probably won't make a difference unless you're rolling around Master.

I personally have it set up like this:

If I know the ability's range/area of effect by heart, it's Quick Cast.
If I need to be able to cast the ability in such a way that it only hits specific targets or if it's a long-cooldown ability that I have to cast perfectly the first time, it's On Release.
If it's Azmodan's Q, it's Click Cast.

I think that every time I've managed to hit 3+ enemies with a single Q was doing that. They all scatter when it lands, I finish a quest in one shot, and usually manage to get away after doing so.

I am by no means at a Master level, but I switched it to quickcast for Tracer's Blink to make zipping around smoother. That's one of the few situations where I felt on-release was holding me back.

The last gold price drop, aside from 15k->10k, was in February. Before that, there was a drop at least once a month. I hope they resume them now that the 2.0 boxes, mega bundles, and stim packs are slowing down.

If she happens to go on gem sale, that's the best use of your free gems, unless you know you're going to play a lot in a particular week, in which case buy a 7-day stim.

I still think the on-sale legendary is a better deal. You just have to buy them when you see them, and it's probably worth buying that $5 pack to do so for anyone.
