Legend of Heroes either Trails in the Sky series as PSP downloads, or the Trails of Cold Steel games for good non-Persona RPGs.

Severed is a great first-person metroidvania with cool combat mechanics that doesn't outstay its welcome. Toukiden 2 is a good Monster Hunter clone, I've found. Soul Sacrifice Delta, as well, but it's a different style. Edit: After you beat Persona 4 you can play Persona 4: Dancing All Night, of course.

trails of cold steel will be if it isn't already but the sequel isn't yet. it'll probably be a while before that gets ported as well

FactsAreUseless posted:Just got a Vita. I have Persona 4 Golden and Lumines. I need some game recommendations. What are the can't-miss games? RPGs, puzzle, rhythm games especially. Superbeat Xonic is a solid rhythm game that gets very thrilling very fast. If you're willing to import, IA/VT Colorful is another rhythm game I've been having a ton of fun with. I've heard the Hatsune Miku games are fun too, but unless I'm confused, I think the recent PS4 Miku obsoletes all the games that came before it. If you haven't played them on other systems, the Zero Escape games are all great and are loaded with fun puzzles. Hot Shots Golf/Everybody's Golf is definitely one of the strongest games on the Vita, and one of the all-time great golf games, and can be found for peanuts for a physical copy + often goes for $2.50 on PSN. And if you like fighting games at all, the Vita's d-pad is perfect for them, so I'd suggest picking up SF Alpha 3 or The Last Blade 2 if you see they're on sale.

I bet they love Star Citizen. Buying a Vita also means that you have access to a lot of good PSP titles! I would pick up is Rondo of Blood if you like Castlevania, because 1) it is a good Castlevania games in terms of the older style (NES, SNES)and 2) it has the best version of SotN, although without the best dialogue. get nep LuiCypher fucked around with this message at 18:01 on Aug 3, 2017 |

The best version of SOTN is the PS1 classic one. Or technically the Saturn version I suppose, for completionists sake.

There's no definitive SotN version. The PS1 version has the original translation which everyone loves, the Saturn version has the most content but runs like rear end, the PSP version has more content than the PS1 version but a new translation.

Other good choices were mentioned but if you don't mind using a guide or know a bit of Japanese Taiko no Tatsujin V is a pretty good rhythm game if you decide to get IA/VT colorful too. Taiko leans more toward game and anime music but it was a fun romp. IA leans hard on Jin songs but it's still got a decent selection, less eclectic than Miku but I liked it. There's a decent selection of dungeon rpgs too, Dungeon Travelers 2 is probably the best one with the catch of having to tolerate fanservice. If you can't, I'd say stranger of sword city revisited is your best option there. I liked Operation Babel too but that's definitely not as polished as sosc revisited. There's also psp ones that were released on vita here like class of heroes 2. I liked that one well enough even if I had a few questions about the translation.

Outside of a relic that lets you double tap to run faster all the SotN Saturn "upgrades" are trash (and even that has the same trouble Axiom Verge had where having to double tap when you're moving is finicky as poo poo so you end up just shuffling in place waiting for Alucard to run). I'm sure someone will make a stink since Saturn Maria and PSP Maria are different movesets but the PSP one is also better.

I really want to reiterate that the fan-service in this game is completely bonkers. It's a pretty good game though, which is more than I can say than every other game that trips my personal metric for, "this is softcore porn in disguise." Hot shots golf is pretty good too, don't think anyone's mentioned that yet. If you liked the soundtrack to Persona 4 then you'd probably like Dancing All Night if you like rhythm games with the caveat that the story mode mostly sucks. Yakuza 0 had softcore porn and the game was amazing. Also, the story was so bad that they aren't going to have one in P3D or P5D.

Yeah but the entire game wasn't softcore porn, just a couple of side missions. Yakuza 0 would not be as good if the whole thing was watching videos at the weird video store whilst answering the phone at the telephone club.

Yakuza works so well because of that juxtaposition between beating a man's head into the sidewalk while walking to the video store to get your rocks off, or engaging in super-serious yakuza political strife right after delivering piping hot ramen or something down the road. If it were just one or the other I doubt I, at least, would enjoy it nearly as much. Edit: Wait this is the Vita thread, what is Yakuza chat doing in here.

I haven't played them yet (it may be better to play these on PC, though, since they are dirt cheap on Steam sales) Tokyo Xanadu if you don't want to wait for EX+ on the PS4 God Eater: Resurrection if you want edgy anime Monster Hunter Freedom Wars Titan Souls Day of the Tentacle Remastered Mind Zero Dragon Quest Builders Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0

Despite the PS4 Project Diva Future Tone game being the definitive way to play Miku now, I'd still recommend the Project Diva F and F2 games on Vita if you do a lot of on-the-go gaming. I'd say pass on Project Diva X, though, as it had some annoying unlock mechanics and IMO the overall song list wasn't good enough to make up for it. The only other can't-miss series IMO is Zero Escape, though most of the other recs already posted are quite good as well.
