I've been trying out different classes lately, and I really like Samurai, and I've wanted to try Dragoon. This game has way more buttons than I'm used to using in other MMOs, but they all make sense to press, so I'm not bothered by it as much. However, I'm only in Heavensward content, so I'll probably be overwhelmed later. I assume some of the issues with positionals are alleviated by that True North role ability?

True North helps but you're better off learning to only use it when absolutely necessary (certain phases of bosses) than using it on cooldown. There's a sweet spot that you can generally stand in so you barely have to move.

Ideally, anybody with positionals should try to stand at the border between the flank and the rear of the enemy's target circle. Basically, look for the spot where the circle changes from thick to narrow. You can then make slight adjustments left or right to satisfy your flank and rear positionals without having to run around too much.

Yeah, True North is for stuff like when the boss does attacks that cause him to immediately pivot and turn away from the boss to do an attack. Like the first boss in Kugane Castle or something. It's also very nice for solo combat. I remember somehow I was a NIN and I was tanking the Humbaba FATE in The Peaks while some poor healer was going mad trying to keep me alive. Being able to still add Trick Attack was p helpful. I got a couple questions: 1) Are there any serious Feast groups? I know literally nothing about The Feast, but it sounds neat and PvP is really fun lately, so I'd like to give it a go. 2) What's the Moonfaire giving out this year?

I'm liking DRG better than before for Expert because of the sonic thrust +10s change, but overall I tend to just tank it or go on BLM cause I get mad when the tank takes 15s to do a /countdown 10 on the boss and I lose my eyes and get mad about my pathetic damage loss. I miss HW DRG and it's huge numbers.

Do most people just do their weekly Omega runs with their static or does everyone just DF it at their leisure? I'm curious, cause I've been forced to do the latter this summer and even the former feels like it would be a drag. Granted, I can recognize that I've had a pretty good go at Omega. I only need 1 more shaft to be done with the loot bit of it. FAR better than I had with the last tier of Alexander. I think I never actually managed enough shafts.

Guested with a static on week 1, PFed for the rest of the shafts, then switched to DF once most PF entries switched to Savage. It's been about the same experience I had for Gordias.

The only time I do omega normal with my static is when some of us happen to be doing it at the same time so we just queue together. At this point it's pretty rare to get a group through DF that can't clear anything in a couple attempts.

The reasoning is more to limit the total number of runs needed to get your drop rather than a fear of wipes. That said, I think few people with savage statics bother running normal together. FC party runs are definitely a thing though.
