Does the 90s Mummy count as a remake or is that more of a reimaging either way its a good movie that is probably up there with Jurassic Park in knowing how to balance CGI and practical effects.

The Fremen messiah was always intended to be real and to take control of the universe but be beholden to the Bene Gesserit, to spit them he takes power so there can be no such figurehead and decides to radically change the status quo to dislodge such groups from such influence ever again, was in there too

This was a better review than the Force Awakens 'cause it was more focused, the script was much tighter.

The Force Awakens has my favorite Plinkett sketch stuff, silly as it was, but it was meandering as hell. The RLM guys are so cynical about Star Wars it's kind of hard to take them seriously about it anymore. Although I can't help but agree, the idea of Star Wars going into perpetuity is...eh...

I don't even have any excitement for the Last Jedi.

Like seriously Hollywood quit it with the remakes goddamn. There's been hundreds of remakes over the years and I'd be hard pressed to name 10 of them that were actually worth watching and weren't immediately forgotten.

-The Thing (the 80s one)
-The Fly (also from the 80s)
-Scarface
-Little Shop of Horrors
-True Grit
-Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
-Hammer Dracula and Francis Ford Coppola Dracula I guess?
-I'm drawing a blank

The Magnificent Seven, A Fistful of Dollars and Star Wars are all debatable becuase they were all based on Akira Kurosawa films but changed the setting so it's a bit of a stretch. I like Mad Max Fury Road and Shin Godzilla a lot but to they count? I dunno, calling them remakes is also a bit of a stretch.

Also notice that half of those movies I listed were westerns. Oh and they remade the Magnificent Seven again, didn't they? I forgot about that. Like you know, most remakes.

i liked the dawn of the dead remake by our friend zack snyder. he made a completely different kind of movie which stands on it's own imo
