Mulch was a godsend when I first encountered it as a kid. In Florida there was a 10 foot jungle gym built on top of just blacktop. Falling, hitting the rungs on your way down, and being greeted by a hot unforgiving slab of cement was a valuable life lesson about grip strength and surefootedness that I carry with me even today.
