Yeah, I've got some buddies that came up in the infantry that have.......stories. :stonk:

Anyway I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now and will be back in college next year for a degree in early childhood education.

Does anyone here know what's better to use: Post 9/11 GI Bill or the VA vocational rehabilitation?

Period chair:

One day in Iraq, the CPT jumps up and yells for no one to sit in her chair. She leaves and so make a big deal of making it over here to sit in it. Right when I look down to sit, I stop. In the middle of her seat is a smudge of blood. Still wet.

I gather attention to it by shouting and everyone is disgusted. She was pretty much the ranking member so we ignored it the best we could. For 8 months, until a major threw it outside and told her to make it to the dumpster.

She would also smoke cigarettes during her break in between events during the PT test.

She wasn't suitable for Army, much less teaching children.

Yeah. That's what I thought.

I had a Maj who collected piss bottles once. Like, wall to wall.

He would also shave his entire body (openly and publicly) and lift weights 3 times a day.

He's a COL now.

I walked into a G-1's office once and saw his name written on a dry erase board. I asked the G-1 what it was for (some important job with a promotion), and then I told him about the guy.

The G-1 turned around, wiped the guys name off the board, and that was that. :D

There absolutely is a good ol' boys club and sometimes it really does work for the best.

You need to explain this.

Did he actually break out a razor in public and start shaving his arm? Or did he just shave his body hair and tell everyone he did? I really shouldn't have to ask this. But lets not kid ourselves. We have all seen enough to make this a legitimate question.

During deployment, he would stand outside, in the officer living area, in his underwear, and shave his body.

We had private bathrooms and showers.

He would watch porn in his office. He would sleep at his desk. He kept a piss bottle in his office even though there was a bathroom.

He was universally disliked. BUT 300 ON THE APFT!! HOOAHH!!! TOP BLOCK THAT GUY

There was a dude in my platoon who did this in basic, like foot up on the latrine sinks shaving his balls and all. At least it was only in the bathroom. gently caress, that guy was weird. He was a pretty decent guy overall, just weird as poo poo.

A major I worked under was a smart guy, got a ton of poo poo done by sheer force of will, and also scared the living poo poo out of everyone, threatened physical violence, engaged in dangerous physical punishment, and was a real rear end in a top hat to anyone he decided he disliked on day one. I got lucky in that the first time he saw me lead something, it went well. (I didn't slouch and worked hard on that event, but he also seemed to credit success or failure 100% to officers and not at all to NCOs or lower enlisted).

I was not surprised to hear he got CSL selected for BN command and then was soon after relieved of command for toxic leadership.

gently caress I can't wait to get out. I don't know how anyone can do this stupid poo poo for 20 years. My life has pretty much been the Army for all of 2017 so far.

Can't keep up with a gym routine because I'm often at work super late, and because I'm at work late I often don't make dinner myself and eat fast food on post. I mean I guess I could still do those things afterward but I like to get at least a little bit of sleep.

Whenever I hear some colonel, general or csm talking about taking care of the troops I just think they're completely full of poo poo

55% of LTs make it to major. That's counting those KIA, WIA, medically separated, those kicked out for indiscipline, and those who choose to leave or are forcibly separated.

Most LTs saying they're outta here are liars.

All except one of my LT buds from my unit are now out of the Army. Some are now CPTs that will spend like 6 months as CPTs before ETSing.

I have a easier time listing LTs getting out here than I do staying in.

My BDE supposedly has the lowest junior officer retention rate in the Army which I think makes sense since the Seattle area is awesome. All of them that are out or getting out are staying here except for one.

It would be easier to justify staying in if we lived in a lovely area like Texas or something.

Would rather be at JBLM than basically anywhere else CONUS, except maybe Belvoir, Myer, Meade, or the Pentagon, but those don't count.

Germany is the only place I've ever been where all of the people in the Army are happy, though. It was weird.

e: I had to deal with a bunch of Army people this week. I was there in an official capacity for my job, so obviously I wasn't making GBS threads on Armydom, but it still surprises me how many people legitimately enjoy being in the Army. Like, it beats the hell out of working fast food, but if you're a CW4 working at Cyber Command with an OSCP why wouldn't you get out?
