I think the worst part of this event - aside from the obvious human tragedy - is watching the collective goal-post shifting of the nation. I think most people have been reserving judgement on the state of the nation until a major conflict occurred. This is the first time in a while we've seen armed militant groups take to the street and attempt violence against their opposition. This should be the moment where our centrists look around and say, 'poo poo man, this is worse than I thought'. But instead it'll be rationalized and forgotten until the next time.

So I went to the beach for two days and stayed offline because I wanted to relax and I literally come home to an incident of multiple body-count white nationalist terrorism and the President thinks it's totally fine. I think this deserves a gently caress This Gay Earth. Also I think we need to straight up start melting these Confederate "hero" statues down and making them into sewer covers. Honestly this incident makes it all too clear that Trump is perfectly willing to accept the support of white supremacists. As long as someone votes for him, he doesn't care. The weak "on both sides" bullshit is the exact kind of statement you make when you don't want to jeopardize the support from either group involved. I mean we all knew this already but its gotta be increasingly difficult to pretend that isn't the case when you're a "sane" Trump supporter. So far every right-wing person I've seen speak up has been pretty on the nose except Trump. I would love to see every single one of them come out with a statement decrying white supremacy and just leave him flapping in the wind looking somehow stupider than before.
