The most improbable single stat is Ovechkin scoring 55 goals, which has happened once when 23-year-old Ovechkin did it in 2008-09 - Stamkos scored 60 in 2011-12. It's unlikely that any player scores that many goals, though if one does it would likely be Matthews or McDavid, maybe Laine. One of those players will probably do it within 2-3 years, when they hit that goal-scoring sweet-spot at age 22-24.

The most puzzling part is that despite projecting a sizable increase in scoring for nearly every player, they projected McDavid's scoring to decline. Something's wrong with your model when guys over age 30 are scoring more and the 20-year-old is scoring less, even if his season was exceptional.

Just spent a few mins zoomed in on that image on my phone thinking I was an idiot for not understanding what was so bad about the predictions. There were some that I disagreed with, but on the whole it seemed pretty decent. Then I realized I was looking at the 16-17 columns the whole time

I met John's wife once while working. She was really nice, but talked about how the one kid was going to some expensive fashion school and I took it there was some drama on whether they felt it was worth it or not (I'm sure it wasn't).

Every time John came in to the store I happened to be with a different customer. 10 year old me was very sad I never got to help him.

I know Wings fans were bummed to lose him on waivers but honestly I could see why they dumped him. It's a win for the Leafs in that it clears contract and salary for a guy that's replaceable, but right side depth is gonna be a fun issue this year.

While I find this highly doubtful, Brian Lawton isn't a rumour monger to the same extent as Eklund. He's hardly a solid source though.

I mean I'd love to see the Bruins to trade yet another young star for no reason, but I know in my heart there isn't that much beauty in the world.

I'm sure it's just a way to churn up discussion and get people excited about nothing. You'd think Pastrnak would have signed a long time ago considering Boston's cap situation (they have plenty of money for him). So on the face of it, it might seem possible. He's said he loves Boston though, he's a fan favorite, he goes on team trips to China and all that. Everything suggests he wants to stay and the team wants him to as well.
